Sunday 4th August 2013 started as a beautiful sunny day. Left Kangaroo Valley and enjoyed a picturesque drive to Eling Forest Estate for a pickling and bottling class with the legendary Stephen Hogwood of The 1910 Bottling Company. This is just one of the tours that FoodPath Culinary Tours offers. Arrival was friendly with welcoming cups of tea or coffee and a chance to meet the other participants - on this occasion all women and all keen to improve their knowledge of the once ancient but now in vogue again art of preserving and pickling. Stephen was a fountain of very practical information, and clearly more than capable of imparting his knowledge (and secret recipes!!) to us all. Hands on experiences allowed us to produce bottled rhubarb and pears in a beautiful vanilla syrup and a jar of pickled onions - techniques learnt are transferrable to all manner of goodies. A shelf burgeoning with 1910 Bottling Company products provides inspiration. After a quick clean down of our work stations, we adjourned to a most fabulous luncheon - fresh breads and delicious cheese all accompanied by a wide variety of pickled and bottled condiments. An excellent way to laze away a sunny Sunday and for me, the first of many intended FoodPath tours. Highly recommend www.foodpath.com.au

Thanks Vicki for your kind review. I think the Market Tour is good for locals and visitors too because, as you say, you get to know who the local producers are and we like to give you background info to make it interesting. Hope we see you again soon! Regards, Jill

Thanks Gail for your kind review of Celebration Sunday at Biota on the last Sunday of the month - the tour of the produce market with us first followed by lunch at the FoodPath communal table. This is popular and we are very happy to be collaborating with Biota for this event. Some people are making it a regular event!

Thank you so much Alyse for your review. Loved having you both along. We really appreciate the feedback especially about my attention to detail - which is important. Was a bit of fun having a brush with fame with Nicole and Keith coming along!! Can't guarantee it of course, but you never know who you will meet on a FoodPath tour :)
