clyde river berry farm

We go to Clyde River Berry farm every summer to pick our own blue berries. They are yummy and so much cheaper than in the shops.I alway plan to make something like jam with them ,but end up just eating the whole lot fresh.DELICIOUS.

This was our second trip to the Clyde River Berry Farm, having made a quick visit in early December 2014. Mid February 2015, Not sure if there would be any Berries left, I contacted Alan, and out we came.We turned off the Princes Hwy and took Boarding House Road and approximately 20 minutes later we arrived. The road is dirt, but easily navigated in our Commodore wagon. We were welcomed with a smile from one of the Workers, and asked whether we wanted to pick Blue, or Black Berries. Kitted out with our buckets, we started on Blue. 20 minutes later, we easily had 2 kgs of beautiful plump Blue Berries. I have to admit, honestly, I did not see the sign stating that "Please Don't Eat our Berries, Before they are Yours!" (Well I did have to sample the crop.)We then ran into Alan, doing some weeding among the trees. Perhaps it is the splendid isolation, but Alan just stopped what he was doing, walked us back up to the "Processing Shed" and then took us down to the Black Berries. Alan was not only generous with his time but also a wealth of info about the Trees, the Farm's History and the local area. We picked Blackberries from a thornless variety. They were big, black and plump!Berries are very economically priced, especially considering what you pay for 125 grams in a Supermarket.We then had perhaps The Best" Ice Cream I have ever eaten! "Mixed Berry!" A definite must have.I have to admit, honestly, I did not see the sign stating that "Please Don't Eat our Berries, Before they are Yours!" (Well I did have to sample the crop.)We said our good byes, and then continued West along River Road to "Shallow Crossing." A cataract crossing the Clyde River. It is tidal, and best to ask Alan or his wife whether it is ok, as at times it can get a little deep, especially for a Commodore. It is a beautiful destination, even if you have to turn back and return the same way you came. It also has excellent camping facilities.We continued onto another Crossing, a little Deeper than Shallow Crossing, but still ok to cross. Then we followed the Clyde River down to Nelligan. The scenery was spectacular. We topped the day off with a Beer in the very friendly Nelligan "Steam Packet Hotel". It was a great half day out, and after freezing, we plan on eating our Berries during the Winter Months, that is, if they last that long!

Loved the day spent there picked our own blueberries and have to say they were yummy and also bought some blueberry jam which is to die for and now I want more, then you have the ice cream its amazing so creamy and so much flavor... yummm

berries were crazy good- have not had a blue berry that tastes this nice before.I'd have eaten several ice creams if my husband and stomach had allowed.

Fabulous pick-your-own berry farm in the hinterland between Batemans Bay and Ulladulla. Bit of a drive on dirt road to get there but worth the effort. We picked a load of fresh blueberries and had a yummy berry icecream to reward our efforts in the hot sun! Can also buy jams. Can't get any fresher berries and the farm owners and staff are lovely. We also had a swim at shallow crossing on the way home to canberra. Highly recommended! Great family fun after a swim at the beach.

This was our second visit to the Berry Farm. It is situated in the middle of the bush along about 15kms of dirt road with tall eucalyptus forest on the edge of the road on either side. Then all of a sudden we arrived at the berry farm, like a little oasis. The blueberries are the best you will find anywhere - large round, blue, unblemished and tasty! We picked 5kgs!! And finished it off with one of their home made ice creams sitting under a tree and enjoying the surroundings of the spectacular property! A terrific family holiday activity!

It was quite a challenge getting to Clyde River Berry Farm, but once there, it was a truly wonderful place to spend a good part of the day with the family, particularly for people like myself from the urban jungle where all fruit produce comes served in plastic containers at the supermarkets. It was a whole new experience for my city kids, what with all the beautiful and delicious blueberries and the heavenly fruit ice cream (a must try!). Can't quite comment on the prices of produce since this was my only PYO (Pick Your Own) in like 10 years, but I sure had loads of blueberries when I left, so it couldn't have been too exorbitant!Highly recommended if you're in the area, but look out for the signs and go easy on the dirt roads. Would be great if the farm could put out a couple more signs; I was quite sure I was getting lost and ready to turn back to the highway. Am sure glad we finally found it! And do check what's in season before making the trip there!

We decided to follow the sign we had seen on the Princes Highway many times over the years.Fortunately we are very old hands at driving on poor dirt roads, and after working out which turn to take where someone had pinched the sign (or it fell over), we finally arrived at what can easily be called an oasis in the wilderness.A strange sight to turn a bend on a typical eucalypt forest track and see row after row after row of berry bushes.We had unfortunately chosen the hottest day of summer to go there so the conditions were not really helpful. Anyway, we were quickly instructed in the picking arrangements and pointed in the right direction.My whole family leapt into the picking with enthusiasm and very soon we had filled our buckets with the most beautiful berries you could imagine.On such a hot day, the only sensible choice was to hand in our berries to be turned into the most amazing instant ice-creams which were consumed sitting in the beautiful shady garden area.There were only two things I could "complain" about, one being the condition of the road in (but that is a local council issue, NOT the fault of the Berry Farm) the other being a need for more accurate signage in from both ends of the highway.

Again a great time picking blueberries. So good for the children and adults. There were so many berries high and low easy to pick and so fresh you have to go back for more. The amazing ice creams at the end were a great treat. Good price at $16 per kilo and we walked away with punnets of blue berries and jars of lovely jam.

We decided to visit this attraction on our rented sedan, but the road in was a shocking unsealed road that looked as though it was only accessible to a 4WD, it was a no return one way track and we felt like turning out at one point in time but there was no way to u-turn! It was do or die.Thankfully we found the farm, however the car was mostly covered in sand. The farm itself was isolated and pretty, rows of berry plants to choose from. Owner gave us a bucket to hold our berries and explained which were the good berries to pick. They charged by the kilo for what you picked. We were just there for the experience hence picked 100-200 grams of blue berries just for the fun. Only blue and blackberries were in season. They also had freshly made jams and honey which we got a few bottles to make our drive worth it. The highlight was their freshly made fruit ice-cream - we tried the mixed berry. It was heavenly and refreshing. Unfortunately couldn't take more back with us.
