I chanced upon David's gallery and cafe, by luck, today. Just driving from the hunter valley vineyards to Dubbo. My wife and I both had home made scones with clotted cream, and strawberry jam. These must be cooked onsite, as they were fabulous. Add to this the proper black tea that I had and the coffee my wife had, and you get a really great experience. Definitely worth stopping, if you are on this road. B84. Oh, I almost forget.....what a nice bloke David is. .....and his art and sculpture are worth a look as well!
Dad insisted on going out to David Mahony's Art Gallery for his birthday lunch. For him they serve Gluten Free meals, for me it was a home made (by Lorraine) Beef Hotpot. We both enjoyed our meals and a candle in dad's ice cream, made his day. The sculptures and rustic art make the view from the veranda even more interesting. It is a place well worth visiting if you are ever in the neighbourhood.
Amazing mosaic art, rock sculpture, and beautiful book of drawings a lot of which won awards. The artist, David Mahony, was very down-to-earth, humble and friendly. His wife, Lorraine, runs the cafe and she makes beautiful lemon tart and coffee!
I dropped in today on the way home from the Pilliga and had a look at the Art Gallery and its amazing sculptures and mosaics outside and enjoyed a lovely coffee in the gallery. David and Lorraine are excellent hosts and it is a pleasant atmosphere. Go along and soak up the art and sit back relax and eat, drink surrounded by colourful art.
We were in the Upper Hunter Valley again on a recent road trip, so we decided to call in and see David and Lorraine Mahony at the David Mahony Art Gallery which we had revisited on a previous trip. We enjoyed a light lunch and iced coffee, and a chat with the David and Lorraine. David showed us his latest works which he recently displayed at the Muswellbrook Art Gallery. It was a pleasure to walk through the grounds with the displays of mosaics and sculptures. If in this area (on the scenic Bylong Valley Way, near Muswellbrook) it is well worth a visit to enjoy the country hospitality.
We discovered David Mahony Art Gallery and Café on a recent road trip in the Upper Hunter Valley. There we had a nice home-made light lunch and coffee in the outdoor seating area. We were very pleased to meet David, the artist in residence there. He and his wife run this Art Gallery and Café and it was great to have a personal chat with them. David has his own art on display, plus a range of gift cards featuring his art for purchase and reasonably priced. Also in the outside area, there is a display of granite art and mosaics. Well worth a visit if you are passing through Sandy Hollow on the Bylong Valley Way, which, by the way, is a very scenic drive.
