Staffed by volunteers. An excellent array into country music. You will learn alot about country music as it compliments the Golden Guitar.
Called in to get brochures at visitors centre, and found this very informative display, showing the history of country music.Plenty of interactive displays and photos, well worth the small entry fee.
This place is no doubt one of Tamworth's more establish exhibitions on country music, this awesome collection has moving footage, photographs, detailed stories about Tamworth's historical connection to the local country music and other write ups on all the leading stars. Worth a look no regrads
This was just a fabulous step back in time. My Aunty is actually featured in the Museum and it was so nice seeing her costumes and reading about things I wasn't around for!
This was an excellent display and very interesting to Country Music Fans (my husband) and those who are just interested in music and the history of Country Music in Australia (me). Thoroughly enjoyed this museum.
This is in the back of the Visitor Information Centre building which is shaped like a guitar. The ladies in the VIC were very helpful and knowledgeable on the area. The Museum follows the history of country music in Australia and has a lot of old pieces. Well worth the small fee to get in.
very good but some of the video displays have been reduced compared to last time we visited. Good value for money with reduced rates for seniors
Found this very interesting and full of great information from the birth of country music in Australia to the present day. Everything is very well laid out and you can easily spend a few hours engrossed in all things country.
Attached to a small information center, at which I found the staff rather unhelpful and unknowledgeable, is the Walk A Country Mile Museum. There is plenty of car parking in the adjacent fast food restaurant car park, or out the back of the complex for longer vehicles and caravans. The museum itself focuses on Australian country music and some of the local Tamworth Country Music Festival awards history. There is a range of memorabilia on display, as well as several videos playing throughout the galleries. It is however relatively small, and only half and hour to an hour needs to be set aside to comfortably view all that is on offer. At the time of writing, the admission cost for an adult was $5.00.
Attached to the tourist information centre, this museum is interesting and interactive. It is stocked with memorabilia that will interest country music and non country music fans alike.
A must at festival time it's where you get all your tickets and a Tamworth 10 day bus pass for ten dollars..
The man at the desk was helpful explaining everything in town.It was a warm day but hot inside. The displays were ok not value for money though
I am not really a country music fan, but wanted to learn a bit more about it while I was in Tamworth, so headed here. The display is part of the Tamworth Tourist Info Centre. There is an admission charge of $5 ($4.50 concession) although when I visited several of the DVD displays were not working and they waived the charges. The display gives a nice overview of country music in Australia from 1780s -2010 by series of poster boards, videos and memorabilia. There is a selection of early records including a rare aluminium record. There are also snippets of recording artists that you can listen to. It's not a huge display, but is reasonably well set out and takes about an hour to wander through.Level access.Open 9am - 5pm 7 days a week Closed Christmas Daywebsite: http://www.visitnsw.com/destinations/country-nsw/tamwortharea/tamworth/attractions/walk-a-country-mile-museum
