You can cuddle a wombat. And you can walk right into the pens and hang out with wallaroos and kangaroos. I don't think anything more needs to be said. Cuddle. A. WOMBAT!
We have been visiting Birdland regularly for many years. It never fails to be a delightful experience for people of all ages. We have taken many overseas visitors through the years and they all remember their time there and talk about it, even years after their visit. Some of our regular visitors through the years have added it to their 'must do' list when visiting the South Coast of NSW. The staff are the most caring and loving custodians of the creatures in their care, the health and well-being of the creatures is paramount. Even after experiencing the shows innumerable times we are still delighted by the informative sessions with the snakes, wombats, and koalas, and the obvious bonds the staff have with the animals. All creatures great and small are loved and cared for at Birdland according to their needs and, as a consequence, the creatures are obviously happy, content, and very much at home. Birdland is a rare gem of a park where one can get up close to some beautiful birds and animals in a casual family atmosphere while wandering lovely shaded grounds. Not to be missed.
We don't gloat about our shows. We do them and people enjoy them. The walk in roo pen has a roo retreat attached so that the roos can retreat if they do not want human company. Birdland is all about the critters! We don't let people with respiratory symptoms pat the Koalas-Birdland is all about the critters!
Thank you for reviewing our park. Upgrade starting soon-be sure and revisit to enjoy the improvements. Cheers David B
Can not say how much we enjoyed our visit to the park today 8th feb .The park has a warm frindly feel the minute you walk in the gates. Its great for kids, mine had a ball here today.Staff were great big thankyou to Karen for sharing her knowledge of all the animals especially the wombat's. This beautiful place and deserves a visit and support from all they are doing an amazing job looking after all these great animals.Thank you for a lovely sunday morning .
I have been Visiting Batemans Bay for Xmas Holidays since I was a kid. Im now 47 with my own kids and still regularly visit a beautiful holiday town. The park is still as I remember as a kid which is part of its charm and my boys insist on a visit every time as the interaction with the animals is wonderful. Look forward to visiting again next time we are there.
We came expecting to stay about an hour and stayed for nearly 3. Essentially family run and it shows - everyone cares about the animals and wants you to have a good time. The people I met (Emily and Jo I think) were very friendly and knowledgeable. It's not a slick corporate operation, so don't expect all the bells and whistles, but if you want all the basic amenities (including a pretty good coffee), a chance to stroke a wombat or hold a snake, wander among kangaroos, and to meet some of the nicest people you could ever wish to, come here and have a ball! Thanks to everyone we met for a lovely time.
Brilliant experience. A small and welcoming zoo where you can really see animals up close. It was a dream come true for me to be able to cuddle a wombat & 'Willow' & 'Gabe' we're certainly up for a cuddle. This is one of the very few pIaces I could find where you could do so. I was a little hesitant at first at the cost with three children and myself plus feed, drinks, train tix etc but knowing that the money goes into supporting those animals and seeing the smile on my little girl's face at the end of the day made it worthwhile.
We weren't sure what to expect from Birdland Animal Park but we had a nice couple of hours there. There were 2 main things I wanted to do in Australia and I did both here, pat a koala and feed a kangaroo. I also got to pat a wombat and hold a snake. At the entrance you can buy food for the animals and birds so we also fed deer and birds, I think my brother fed an alpaca too. The staff here were friendly and knowledgeable, we enjoyed listening to the talks on Koalas, wombats and snakes. We bought a ticket for their train ride at the entrance but didn't actually use it as its a very small kids train. Great for parents and kids, not so great for 3 adults. The food for the animals was a bit annoying. You're told that the pellets are for animals and the seeds are for the birds, both were mixed together in a bag so not that easy to separate quickly in front of the animals. The Kangaroos got quite impatient with us trying to sort out their food :)Overall we had a good visit and got more out of it than we thought we would.
great for disabled people, interactive no rush to get round, lots to see and cool under the trees. could have done with a second visit to make sure nothing missed.
This place is amazing, and while small, the character of the place makes it a wonderful experience. You can really tell that that staff love the animals and that they are their first priority. It is an amazing experience to see a wombat up so close and get a chance to pat them!! Go and support this place, its well worth it!
Friendly staff and loved seeing the animals, especially the wombats and koalas, and the old goat is funny
Thank you for reviewing us. We are in fact cheaper than Mogo Zoo and we give 3 free animal shows each day. There are over 100 species in a beautiful garden-a photographers paradise. Many of the animals will come up to you for hand feeding. I will look into the rudeness comment but in the meantime come on in folks and see for your selves and report any problems to me.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Upgrade starting soon-check us out at Easter.
