Lake Tinaroo is more manicured than the other lakes that I visited, such as Lake Barrine and Hastie's Swamp in north Queensland. It is, however, a very pleasant place, especially in the late afternoon. It's breezy and has this very laid-back feel to it. As it is a lake, the large body of fresh body cools the air, making having a stroll, riding a bike or just sitting down for a picnic, a very pleasant affair. The park has a few trees, where if you are into birdwatching you would be able to spot birds such as the Crested Pigeon, White-winged Thriller, Yellow Honeyeater and several kinds of water fowls.I didn't see anyone having water sports in the lake and so am not sure if entering the lake to swim is permitted. In the park were a couple of caravans and the owners were seen reading their books and having tea at the same time. Ah, how very nice and relaxing.

A beautiful lake within the Atherton Tablelands. Felt a sense of peace just taking in the huge lake and enjoying the breeze. I wish I live near to such a beautiful lake.

Just another touch of paradise. If it didn't get so cold in winter I would move there permanently in a shot. The Tablelands are excellent.

This whole area is very beautiful but we were completely humbled by the Avenue of Honour just outside of Yungaburra. So well done, it made me cry - not easily done. In particular the tributes to the men and their dogs was very touching.

Peaceful setting, with a variety of on water activities available. relaxing for swimming, walking and exploring. We drove the road around the lake which was unsealed and very rough in parts but was navigable by 2wd and the council was grading and repairing in as we drove it. Stopped at all the points of interest the chimneys, crate lakes and rivers and cathedral fig, was a good way to spend the morning on our way to visit surrounding attractions. There was a few good camping and picnic areas around the lake although we didn't sample.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Tinaroo Lake Resort (which is worth mentioning) and managed to do a fair bit of walking along the shores of the lake in different areas. The Danbulla Forest is beautiful, the Avenue of Honour is moving and there are plenty of areas to enjoy a picnic with friends. The views are just great!

Great views, amenities, picnic areas. Several caravan parks in the region. Bird life plentyful. Many swimmers enjoyed swimming in the lake at many areas.

drove around the lake today on the dirt road. few large potholes but still ok for most cars if taken carefully. So many different places to stop for a picnic or camp as well as other interesting things to look at, including wildlife. It's a MUST if you are in the area. we did the drive around the lake and also around the Millaa Millaa falls circuit. Another place nearby you don't want to miss.

The lake is HUGE! It is so interesting to take a drive around the lake and see all the different sides of it. We enjoyed staying in accommodation at the Lake Tinaroo 'village', driving around to view the different camp sites, and then pass a different section of the lake at Yungaroo (Yungaburra). Such a beautiful spot by the Avenue of Honour - lovely sloping grass fields into the lake.

Since our last visit to this lake a beautiful Avenue of Honour has been built dwon to the lake to pay respect to the diggers killed in The Afghanistan conflict. There is also a memorial to the sniffer dogs killed in this conflict. We were so moved by this memorial remembering brave soldiers who fought and died so we could have the lifestyle we have today. It makes Lake Tinaroo so very special. Lest We Forget.

Very beautiful lake. Would be amazing to take a boat out onto it for the day. Could easily spend a number of hours here with family or friends having a BBQ. Definitely recommend checking it out.

We really are remiss because as Cairns locals we only visit Lake Tinaroo when we want to "show off" our region to visitors! But ... it's a beautiful destination and whenever we marvel at any one of the many attractions the lake and its shores have to offer we promise ourselves we'll be back sooner next time! We've just returned from a trip to the dam wall and a lazy drive around to one of the designated camping areas. On our last trip we were humbled by the Avenue of Honour just outside of Yungaburra. The school holidays are in full swing and grey nomads abound but all these numbers are "absorbed" into this tranquil region without any sense of crowds or bustle. This place never fails to impress and yes, we will be back sooner next time!
