A temporary exhibition at the Bribie Museum is well worth a visit. 100th anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli is honoured by this exhibition explaining how the Australian War Memorial came into being from the First World War.
Visited with grandson who had a great time and learnt a little more about Bribies. Was most informative
Very interesting fishing history as well as the history of Bribie Island. The ladies in the centre were very helpful and know what they are talking about. Well worth a look.
Sometimes when you live in a place you miss some of the local attractions that visitors find interesting. This museum basically covers the life of Bribie from the minute the first white explorers found it and some of the good things and bad things that have happened here ever since up to the present day. It is well laid out with something to interest almost anyone, well worth an hour of your time.
We took our three children to visit the museum, expecting the usual old building with a few boxed up displays. This museum is far from that! The museum is brand new and filled with the most interesting pieces of Bribie Islands history. Plus there are hands on exhibits for children. The volunteers are passionate and love to have a chat. We found out manat amazing things about this island! A great place to visit
Interesting little museum with a very well documented history of Bribie. The displays give an insight into the first settlement, the first tourists and the original businesses.
This free entry museum is lovely and well run by a council with a help of many sweet elderly volunteers who are giving back into community. There are many stories in a very short history of Bribie Island that only started back in 1911, pictures of local and very down to earth people, exposition of the local artist that can take only 15 minutes for a visit if you skip over and quickly browse through or easily spend an hour if you want to read more and get into some details. Our kids enjoyed it and ask us to come back another time, they liked colorings and activities too.
A very informative place to visit. Bribie Island has a long and very interesting history - one which until the establishment of this museum went untold and unrecognised.A very worthwhile addition to Bribie with more and more being educated to our most interesting background.
Helpful volunteer staff. Well displayed, interesting exhibits. Learnt a lot about Bribie's history & culture.
Finally visited on good advice. Wow what history in my own backyard. From before Mathew Flinders and beyond, Bribie Museum captures the essence of what our earlier settlers experienced including the indigenous residents at the time.
On arrival we were greeted by a lovely elderly volunteer, Desley. Not since I was a kid have I been so absorbed by someone's storytelling! Not only did she know everything off by heart, but she had eye contact with us and showed a real passion for the stories she told us. What was planned to be a quick pop-in, became an hour. By the time we left, I was ready to adopt our lovely volunteer guide. It's a small museum, but it makes up for it in quality.
A nice little museum. I've lived at Bribie for 3 years and went to the museum when we first moved. I learnt a lot about the History of Bribie Island. Every few months they seem to have a special display which is interesting. Free entry.
Fairly new to Bribie but lots of interesting historical information and early pictures of Bribie. A good destination for a rainy afternoon.
It was good to see and read all about Bribie Island history from earlier years. I feel some of the displays could be better especially when they had, one time, thongs and scenes from Bondi beach in Sydney, this is not Bribie.
very informative information on the 50 years of Bribie bridge opening great hands on activities for young and old with making of your own bridge using straws and paddle pop sticks kept us busy for a few hours while it was rather hot outside. The staff are extra helpful. There is a toilet inside too and a great lot of memento to buy
