Love the hall for live concertsPlenty of space to move about even when seated. The pre show drinks have a wide variety to select from. Volunteer staff manning the doors are friendly and helpful
The halls were really great and functioned well. The design is great and it was easy to get around. I loved the whole place.
Good shows, just some of the volunteer staff need to retire or look like they are not bored. Think they need to be more welcoming and one in particular was quite rude
Growing up in Mackay, I have seen the dramatic changes the MECC has gone through. It is a cultural hub for the Mackay's artistic, and hosts a variety of national and international artists annually. There have also been recent upgrades at the theatre itself, which are appealing. As a venue generally, I would argue it is on the average side, compared to venues elsewhere in regional Queensland.
This is a great venue for both the arts and also for conferences and events. Mackay now has a entertainment centre to be proud of. A few teething problems with air conditioning.
I have attended many functions at the MECC including balls, rock concerts, ice skating, travel expo and careers markets. It has a very professional booking agency, cafe and lots of foyer space. Great local asset.
I have been a performer at the MECC and an audience member on many occasions. The MECC is a great venue well resourced and serviced for all types of productions. Everyone makes you feel welcome. One of its best assets is the 'Friends of the Theatre'. These volunteers make the difference. I think the MECC is second to none in regional Queensland.
Have attended a number of concerts and functions here. At the moment the plenary halls have been converted to - an ice rink! Fabulous fun and reasonably priced. Congratulations MECC.
The MECC has been in use for a bit over 2 years now and is a good flexible venue. We've been there for concerts, for conferences and seminars and for travel shows. They can change it around well.Good facilities. If you go to eat and drink though you'll find it on the expensive side, but no different to other concert venues elsewhere.Only downside to this place is that Council let it be built without extra car parking. This is usually OK at night; the furthest away you'd have to park is probably 200m in a side street. On a working day though you'll be lucky to park within a kilometre..
Top spot to see excellent entertainment and world famous shows. There is a restaurant which opens prior to most shows (Bookings essential) and a snack bar where you can buy sandwiches, cakes, tea/coffee etc.
new building and mid sized but attended my first show and reccomend it if the artist is to your choice......great cool air-con
