visited early on Friday am and we were welcomed like friends. They did not have the fudge for tasting but we went there for the olives. we had a lovely chat and coffee with the owner. We left with some beautiful products. He is very proud of his products with good reason as they are just delicious!
The staff here were simply amazing, friendly and knowledgeable about all their products. Their olives and olive products are best we have tasted anywhere, their fudge is brilliant, infused oils and preserves are also a must. We will definitely be buying more of these products.
We have been to Mt Stirling Olives a number of times over the last couple of years and have bought from them too. We visited on a Friday morning around 11am and were greeted with a 'Good morning' and nothing else. They had a sign up saying they don't do tastings on Fridays or Mondays, which is a shame as my parents were with me and were visiting for the first time. The lady at the counter was pottering around in a back room and didn't bother to ask whether we needed assistance or even just to promote the products on offer. We browsed, and even though I had intended to buy some olives, I decided against it due to her complete lack of interest. We visit Stanthorpe regularly as it is our home away from home, but we won't be returning to Mt Stirling Olives.
My husband and I were just passing through Stanthorpe recently and decided to call into Mt Stirling to buy some of their delicious oriental dipping sauce. Unfortunately they were closed, but a quick phone call produced very positive results. They were more than happy to open up for us and were very helpful. I only wish I could have spent more time to browse through the gift shop, but we did not want to outstay our welcome. I will definitely be ordering from them online. I'm just sorry we don't live closer. I would recommend them and their product to anyone.
Having lived in the area for 18 months we hadn't yet visited so decided to give it a try. Great olives to try (around 6-7) then tapenades, dukkah and oils (even strawberry jam). Lady at the olive counter was fantastic and really great to talk to. They also have quite a few different fudges (maybe 15) and sampling (only 4-5) but I don't know why the lady bothered. I couldnt even taste the minute bit she gave me and all the boring types were the ones you could sample. About to spend $30 on fudge and couldnt even taste it. Otherwise a solid visit.
Such a beautiful shop. Olives, chutney, fudge. Top quality!!! Needs a proper cafe with food (in our opinion - obviously they have decided it isn't worth venturing into - fair enough!). It is so pretty & homely sitting at the outdoor tables.....we didn't want to leave. Polite & friendly service too.
If there could be a death by olive, this is how it would happen - so many olives and olive products. The delightful ladies who work there are just wonderful, encouraging you to sample everything. Not surprisingly, we went crazy, both sampling and buying. They have other local products too and loads of gift ware.
Great olives and oil that are all available for tasting .the olives are so lovely I am saving them for a special occasion. They are a bit more protective of the fudge so if you are lucky if you get more than a tiny sliver.
We recently stopped here during a day of winery hopping and I'll go as far as saying this was my favourite stop of the day! Heaps of yummy treats to try and they are very generous with the Produce to try. I spent the most money here buying olives, dukkah and fudge. They even gave the little ones some bread to go feed their goats.A stop see during your trip to stanthorpe!
Pulled up about 2.30 on a Friday afternoon. We came for the olives and fudge. Told normally close at 1pm on Friday due to bus tours on Sat. We spent about $300. Some our group asked if we could try the fudge. After thinking about it finally opened the containers and gave a taste. Another $20 spent. Important for businesses to remember if you are closed take down the open sign.
Second visit to Mt Stirling, and will go back when next I visit Stanthorpe area. The tastings available are varied & worth a go - several kinds of olives, plus dipping sauces, tapenades, dukkah and then there was the fudge! Oh... and good coffee too. Stocked up on my husband's favourite Kalamata olives in Raspberry Vinegar with Rosemary (he was the one who said he didn't like olives... till he tried these ones) plus lots more, including a big box of fudge. Good to see dear old Barney entertaining the visitors still. Take the children & feed the goats. You can easily while away several hours here.
Lovely people. Good products. Try before you buy allows you to spend with confidence. Hopefully Barney and Sammy will both he part of the pr team for some time to come.
We came for the olives and left with so much more. We were encouraged to try all the olives on offer and just before buying my chilli olives (amazing) and truffle infused olive oil a lovely woman handed us 1/2 a loaf of bread so our kids could feed the goats. Won't cook a steak without their olive oil again and the kids are still raving about the gorgeous goats and corn chips next door at the chili tasting. My Aunty is a local to Ballandean who we don't see often, we'll be making the 4 hour trip again for the company, sights and supplies from this shop. Easter weather this year was spectacular. Thanks :)
Must see and do! The customer service was great. The fudge is divine and there are great gifts and things. Fresh local produce - beautiful olives and jams. Can't wait to visit again.
This is what you expect from a country establishment. I'm not sure but you just get the feeling that this is a family run place full of country charm. The people are all friendly - take your time try this or that nothing is too much trouble. In fact we couldn't find what we were looking for - after asking one of the service staff was back in 10 minutes with a freshly filled bottle of flavoured olives. The store which is housed in an industrial farm shed is filled with all types of produce centred around olives. This includes all types of infused olive oils, tapenades and of course olives themselves together with bottled infused fruits and fudges are also available. There is also all manner of serving dishes and bottles to compliment the produce. On the way in there is also a small stall selling all types of chilli produce.Well worth a visit.
