Took my kids even daughter and they enjoyed the whole experience. Open days are even better. Kids got to sit in the f111 which is something you couldn't experience anywhere
There are a number of excellent exhibits which cover many eras of aviation. The information bulletins associated with each piece of machinery will allow you to increase your knowledge very quickly.
A vast array of aircraft both military and civil from around the world, lovingly restored and looked after. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and the displays are well laid out.I highly recommend.
Run by helpful volunteers the hanger is full of all kinds of aircraft.Good hands on experience with excellent restored aircraft.Reasonable entry cost.Good for a few hours.
first thing you see when you enter is an f1-11 in the middle of the floor that you can climb the stairs to see into the cockpit. Quiet amazing if you've never seen one before. A huge range of planes of all sizes. Run by volunteers who have a vast knowledge and love of their job. The main hanger was open sided so was lovely and cool to wander through. Was able to enter some of the planes to experience the real thing. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Entry was very cheap. Only about 12.00ea.good for a wet day outing as most displays are under cover. Would go again
The history and collection in this place was fantastic. The volunteers were friendly and full of knowledge regarding the displays and even though it was a very hot day when we visited it was well worth the trip. Drinks available and the cost of souvenirs were reasonable.
the Air Museum has a vast array of aircraft which are well presented. The volunteers looking after the museum are passionate as they painstakingly reconstruct past beauties.Being able to walk into the Caribou was excellent and the film footage was fascinating. For many years I have watched F111's fly over my town but I have never been able to see one up so close.Overall a wonderful spot to visit, informative signage, great staff and excellent value for money.
The little kids and big kids alike will love this, we did. Fantastic history in such a small area. Their open days and engine run day are a must. So much dedication from a small group of volunteers.
Well cared for with helpful staff to show you around and tell you about the aircraft. The military aircraft are a must to see especially for ex RAAF members
Great chance to get close to history. The planes are displayed, with a brief story of how they got to be here. The staff a not only informative, but incredibly passionate. Great way to spend a few hours. A real gem.
This museum that is operated by volunteers just keeps getting better. The latest acquisition that has been beautifully restored for static display is a RAAF F111C. The large collection of both military and civilian aircraft is diverse and historic. Highly recommended.
To be recommended, always changing for the better, we have here all aspects of aviation history. Many fully fitted out aircraft both Military and civilian, restored and telling the story of aviation so far. Definitely a top knotch exhibit manned mainly by volunteers with knowledge to burn. Well worth the entry fee. Locals should go here often, as new exhibits come on line after great restoration.
We visited this attraction recently and found we spent a very interesting and enjoyable few hours. The length of time for a visit would depend on how interested you would be in that type of display and articles on display. The major draw for us was the F111. It is such a huge plane. We were there about 5 years ago and was amazed to see how the number of planes on display has grown. The friendly volunteers that work there are only to happy to talk to you about what they do. As well as the fully restored planes there a numerous planes in different stages of repair to see. There is also lots of memorabilia to look at. It is also wheelchair and scooter friendly. Reasonable amount of parking area.
I went along with Hubby to fill in some time before our flight home. I was really impressed with the display of planes and information boards. A very well set out exhibition.
I think you can tell the museums which are run by volunteers as they seem to inject an air of enthusiasm into the museum. This is a cool little establishment, lots of interesting aircraft, and displays, and I liked the bios they had on Australian aviators. Well worth a visit.
