Well, where to start? I booked with the Keppel Blue Spa expecting a luxe spa experience. I am a regular patron of spas both here and on my travels and have found that price usually indicates the sort of surrounds you can expect - with more expensive treatments indicating a more beautiful, serene and relaxing environment. Keppel Blue is expensive, particularly for CQ so I had high hopes especially as the lady on the phone told me to come an hour early to relax in their garden and spa. I booked a 75 min body wrap, 75 min facial and eye treatment so I expected to be in heaven. I arrived to the spa reception - a tiny room all on it's own, next to the spa was a line of low-cost housing, at the end of this row of ground floor flats were the treatment rooms and 'garden'. The garden is a slab of concrete with a few tired looking sun lounges - outside on a partially screened patio. The hydrospa shoved in the corner. Honestly it looked like the back of someone's house, the most amateur operation I have ever seen and not the least bit aesthetic.Luckily the therapist agreed to start early, I couldn't have spent an hour there! While in the spa I could smell cigarette smoke directly outside the area I was in. Very far from what you would expect of a spa experience - being transported to a place of bliss, removed from the world. But it doesn't get much better. The SHARED treatment rooms are laid out with a dividing curtain, like a hospital room and if the person closest to the door needs to access the bathroom, they will walk through the other person's space. For the shared treatment rooms alone I will never go back. The floors in the treatment room and bathroom were filthy, nothing had been renovated (beyond a slap of paint in the treatment space) since the late 80s. The treatment bench was a stained and tired blue laminate. The tiles on the wall in the shower were cracked... An absolute nightmare, particularly at the price. The only good point was the therapist who knew her stuff and did a good job. Unfortunately even with her expert abilities the spa effect was lost.I go to spas a lot, as do many of my female relatives, friends and colleagues. I was so excited and hoped to be able to tell them all to check out Keppel Blue, unfortunately I can only warn them away.It is such a shame for this region that it wasn't done properly. It would be great to have a day spa with a space to relax before treatment. My advice for the owners - consult with someone who knows what a spa should look like and get interior design assistance. It is obvious you don't have experience in this area but the people who would have frequented and promoted your establishment by word of mouth will, they will know that the standard is ridiculously low and the prices far too high for the poor surrounds you're offering. Also, have at least some single treatment rooms, you're there to drift off and be pampered, not feel awkward lying half naked next to a stranger!
