This is a wonderful memorial in a restful lakeside location, where Australians can pause, reflect and say a silent "thank-you" to the brave servicemen and women who help to make this world a much better place.Lest We Forget. The memorial is a credit to all those involved from it's inception to the final result we see there today. Very moving.Pleased to also see recognition for the involvement of dogs in combat and peace missions. The words on the plaque for the dogs are brilliant.

When we saw the sign we weren't sure what to expect but what a beautiful place. The way the trees are planted, the memorials sited by the lake just makes you stop and think. Takes you breath away.RIP

Came to visit and impressed at how good tidy it was. Great memorial for the soldiers killed in the conflict. Sad to see that our Australians boys died.

The local families have certainly put our servicemen out there where they deserve to be. The memories this avenue brings back for visitors is quite overwhelming. Set right by the Lake Tinaroo it gives plenty of space for people to contemplate.

Wonderful memorial to the soldiers who died in Afghanistan and a fitting place to erect this memorial so close to the water on Lake Tinaroo making it feel very restful.

Yungaburra is not the place that usually springs to mind when Memorials to Australia's fallen soldiers are discussed, but it will be in the near future. This newly opened Memorial to those killed in Afghanistan is achingly beautiful, inspired by the death of local boy Pte. Benjamin Chuck. The local community, working with a Cairns designer, have created one of Australia's outstanding monuments; unpretentious, respectful and moving.

A beautiful monument erected in the memory of those young men who have given the ultimate sacrifice to their Country. Set on the side of Lake Tinarroo a perfect setting for an important place to remember those who have fallen.

This is a credit to the community with a well designed and executed memorial walk and roll of honour. Being pet lovers the role of the dogs in Afghanistan supporting our soldiers was wonderful.

The young flame trees that flank the Avenue of Honour will develop over time to enhance this already dignified and moving memorial. The persons responsible for the memorial deserve a vote of thanks from all of us. I am glad we made the time to visit this spot on the edge of the lake.

The Afghanistan Avenue of Honour has been designed to offer recognition and pay tribute to those souls who paid the ultimate price in the theatre of war.Very tastefully designed and built it recognises those who have fallen. Included is a touching acknowledgement for the K-9 members of the Australian Army who failed to return. When the Avenue trees have developed further and when they are in full bloom it will become the fitting tribute that it was designed to be.

The Avenue of Honour..is the most Dignified, Respectful, Beautiful, and Tranquil place of Rememberance I have ever had the pleasure to visit! Be sure to visit in the day, but also around dusk when the whole atmosphere changes with the mellow lighting which comes on automatically. The designer of this very awesome Avenue deserves many accolades.......a place I would return to many times.....

It is amazing place, simple but very moving, must see. And to think that it is build and supported by community without government financial support

The towns folk of Yunguburra have indeed built a fitting memorial to our brave diggers and their dogs who gave their lives so we may live in peace. To walk the length of this memorial and read the plaques is very humbling. It was very special to us as we had family serving in The Ghan with these brave diggers. Our late Dad had been stationed at Yunguburra during WW2 also. Rest in Peace and thank you diggers. We will never forget.
