A nice spot to wander through as you are likely to be in the historic precinct anyway, lots of mature significant trees of differing types - pleasant
If you want to have a break from shopping head to the gardens with a snack and relax. Beautiful trees and lawn.
The Town Hall gardens are located next to the Visitor Information centre.A nice little garden for a picnic amongst the mature trees. We were told by the one of the staff at the visitor centre that apparently many of the trees are the original plantings which are registered with the National Trust significant tree register.
This was such a nice place to have our lunch so peaceful and such old trees very nice garden with table settings.
Tree huggers paradise! You could feel the history surround you. Picnic tables under the shady canopies would be more welcoming in summer than winter.
The gardens are a wonderful place to enjoy the quiet of the day and offer a glimpse at earlier times when promenading through the gardens would have been a weekend or even daily event. It is lovely they have been maintained in period and retain the bandstand.
I suspect that Beechworth and its gardens will be brilliant in spring, winter in the rain is not the best time to see them at their best
You can sit in the gardens and enjoy them for what they are - a public open space - however to really know what goes on here, take a tour. Our guide showed us many aspects of the gardens would otherwise walk past without realising it.
Visiting the buildings in the Historic district of Ford Street, it is just a matter of crossing the road at the top of the street to make your way to the Town Hall Gardens. So, being there we thought 'might as well'.Coming into the colder period of April-May there were none of the colourful flower gardens, however the large trees, particularly the massive Bunya Pines, are worth having a good look at. The gardens are not large, sandwiched between Ford and Loch Streets, but they are worth walking through as you visit the historical area. You can also go through the Gardens to visit the cell where bushranger Harry Power was held, located below the rear of the Town Hall itself.
These gardens are lovely great in this heat with plenty of shade there is some seating also great for a picnic well kept gardens very nice.
I reckon a lot of thought had gone into the planning of these gardens. There was plenty of seating, it was close to the Historic Precinct where people had been walking around for a fair while, or taking a guided tour, it was close to the public toilets and it was reasonably close to places to buy your lunch, a take-out coffee, whatever..... I was unlucky and visited on a bitterly cold day but, without a vehicle and having brought my lunch with me, these gardens were a convenient location for me between two booked walking tours. There was sufficient seating to find one in what sun there was. When the sun is out it would be a perfect family picnic area. The gardens looked reasonably well maintained and, being in close proximity to two guys whose conversation was difficult to miss, more development is planned. I hope they don't make it too 'glitzy.' sited around a war memorial, one needs a place of quiet contemplation, which is exactly what this is. A very useful community amenity; from what I saw during my short visit, this town is very dependant on tourism for its survival and this type of amenity is exactly what is needed.
These gardens need a lot of love. There are some great old trees and small garden beds. It could be so much more
This is a lovely European style garden just off the historic precinct. In summer it is a place of cool shade, in winter there is enough colour to break the gloom of a cold morning. A fountain tinkles, and a bandstand beckons. A pleasant place of calm.
One of the differences when looking at the old photos of Beechworth and comparing to the present is the greenery.I love the history of the town but so too do I enjoy the overall ambience of Beechworth.Someone has put some love into the greenery and the Gardens are also a good example.A very pleasant place to enjoy a break from "touristy" activities.
It was very clean, but the garden itself needs some TLC. Great place to have a family picnic and kick a ball. Nice options for buying takeaway nearby.
