From our B&B a short walk to the lake and then around the lake for an hour, nice walk relatively easy and great view
Early morning walk destination - chance to meet the ducks, geese and other water birds, and the dog-walkers.
This lake is why we visit Daylesford, great for couples and families. A lovely romantic setting for couples, the walk is just the right length to stretch you legs and view the lake from different angles. We took our children here when they were young and they loved walking around the lake, the bird life and playground, great for picnics too.
Everyone wants a piece of the lake, tourists and locals alike cling to its fringes. Canoes to hire, picnics to be eaten. Bushwalks around the fringes. Enjoy
Lovely lake but needs some grass and more table and chairs. Shade would be nice. Lots of ducks, water hens etc.Cafes surround it but take a picnic and a rug, it's delightful.
We owned the house on the corner in the 80's. Its now a lovely BBQ area. The book barn is also worth the vist. Great walks around the lake and to the springs.
This is foodies heaven! Treat yourselves as we did for a special occasion. The outlook over the lake is wonderful, the food and presentation is exceptional. Great service until it got a little busy at the end.
Had the most delicious fig cake and coffee at the newly renovated café which is on the water, of course, complete with gorgeous little ducks hanging around. Nice historical photos too.
Sour dough toast with amazing local honey (Des O'Toole). Great salads. Stunning view, family friendly. Good value... What more could you ask for?
We had a great walk and it was really nice and quite. Must see!Take some food with or drinks and relax near the lake.
We like the peaceful walk in the morning, and the fun and vibe in the afternoon with all the picnic people around.
Not well sign posted if coming from the township, knew where it was and still drove straight past the turn-off. Well worth doubling back as it's a charming spot on a sunny day. Pretty much had the place to ourselves, with maybe a dozen people there (on a Friday afternoon). Good thing as only one (double hotplate) free bbq provided if that's your plan, but there is also a cafe right on the lake with an overwater, shade-clothed decking area, and 'parking' for dogs !Didn't realise cafe had burnt down and had been rebuilt. They've done a good job, made it better. Great sweet freekah salad, good burgers, nice ice-cream, quality place. Lake itself as gorgeous as i remembered, but very few people about. Pretty walk down past the old swimming hole down to the pumps for mineral water, which themselves look pretty sad compared to when the mineral water attracted the crowds 40 years ago. walked around the lake. Saw a huge tortoise in the water, but also mixed breed domestic/wild ducks showing locals irresponsibility when they get tired of (white) ducks as pets. Also saw unattended aggressive dog on property bordering path around lake. Surprising for the area as it is a good community around here usually. None of this spoiled what was a lovely visit. Will definitely be returning.
such a peaceful place for ducks and people to just be and contemplate and enjoy. Lovely with your partner, family or even just by yourself to find a space for spiritual rejuvenation or just calm
Walking around the Daylesford lake is indeed peaceful. On a gentle Sunday afternoon we joined many and varied groups as we strolled around the lake and enjoyed the Peace mile.It is perfect, there are ducks, people , willows and water...what else is there ?
Nice early morning walking trail around the lake was a welcome relief to a very hot day. Glad we took the time to explore the lake that daylesford is named after. The water pump was interesting showing the spring as well as a variety of ducks, geese and waterfowl.
