Unfortunately it was raining on the day we visited so the sand was not very squeaky. However, it is a beautiful beach and well worth the visit
The sand actually squeaked when you walked on it, the waves were amazing!! the water was so clear! amazing beach. loved it and will totally return.
Rock formations very good, squeaky sand under foot, natural approach to beach good, contained car parks away from secenery.
Squeaky Beach is beautiful, it was a great way to end a day in Wilsons Promontory. The large granite boulders are great to climb on, and provide a lovely view of the beach. When I was there, we were lucky to be the only ones and it was great. the sound of the sand underfoot is certainly interesting and worth investigating, as it is a strange thing to listen to.
beautiful beach with, as usual, very few people. Easy walk from the carpark, or longer hike from the Tidal River area.
Glad I manage to visit this place finally after wanting to go for so many years! :)Clean beach with squeaky sands when you walk on top the sands. Works with both bare foot and shoes.Nice view into the ocean at the beach. Along the beach, there's a few huge rocks that you can go around and take photos.A must go when you're visiting the Wilsons Promontory National Park.
Once you arrive after walking a while, the view opens into this beautiful view. The ocean mixed with hill and rocks makes this place unique and a place to enjoy. Walking around the beach you will see that the sand is quite different and squeaks under your feet. We walked across from one side to another and this experience was relaxing and really inspiring. Great for a stop over in your experience in Wilson's Prom.
Speaking as a European--this is a truly stunning beach! The whole family agreed that visiting this beach was one of our holiday highlights. For me, the scenery and the quality of the light is captivating. As for the kids--they had great fun in the squeaky sand. They didn't swim (too dangerous) but jumped the waves at the water's edge. It takes a while with kids (10 minutes) to walk from the car park down to the beach but the track is well maintained and part of the fun.
good beach with rocks and hill view ... must see place if you are in Wilson prom .. not a photographic beach but good view for eyes..
This is a great beach where the sand is so fine that it squeaks (hence the name) when you walk across it. Like all the beaches in this National Park, the water is stunningly clear.
This beach is unchanged from many years ago. It still has very fine white sand with rocky outcrops each end. It is worth taking the walk to the next beach, where you can get good views from the cliff.
One o the best beaches I have seen in Oz Land so far. Lovely white sand, beautiful clear water, massive rocks and vegetation make this place like out of this world. Just magical. There were lot of tourists while we were there so it might be a struggle for parking sometimes. Be aware the waves are so strong so mind your steps around, water was icy cold even at the end of January and it was very windy as well.
Beautiful, crisp. ..yet squeaky sand. It's a stunning beach. ..waves are amazing. I would suggest caution after my partner sprained his arm here. He was taking a photo when he was swept off the rock he was on BUT don't let that dissuade you! It's a prime beach. There is limited car parking during busy periods. ..so you may end up walking quite a way. Also there are amenities in the car park area.
From Tidal River camp ground, take the foot bridge over the river and enjoy the walk around to Squeaky beach where the surf if good and the beach is pristine. You have to love those huge rocks and while you are walking towards them, push your feet into the sand and listen to squeak, squeak, squeak of the sand grains rubbing together. That is what I like about squeaky beach. You can drive to a car park nearer to the beach itself but I wouldn't miss the walk around from Tidal River,it is lovely. PS. Don't go thinking the river is dirty, it is coloured by the roots of the tea trees that grow all along the sides of the river.
This is one of the many attractions on the "Prom", an easy walk from the Tidal River car park. Spectacular beach but be aware of the dangers in these open sea waters, there are often large under tows and the waters are straight of the Antarctic so they are cold but refreshing after a long hot walk.
