I highly recommend a visit to IMA for the valuable historic, religious and cultural information plus the spectacular art and architecture. We were made to feel very welcome.

The museum is well worth a visit as quite a few things are explained that a non-Muslim person doesn't understand. There are quotes from the Koran etc. and it is visually very pleasing

Situated in a light industrial area sits this new museum whose architecture reflects indigenous Australians, European and Muslim settlers. The building is simply beautiful. The instillation explains the history of Islam, the art, architecture and academic achievements of Muslims both here and abroad. And it is stunning. The museum imparts peace, love calmness and joy. Don't miss it. The cafe, a suitable addition needs tweaking.

On the outside, the museum doesn't look much but just wait until you step inside! It's bridging the gap between what it means to be an Australian and a Muslim and it does just that. It's worth taking a look.

What a fantastic experience. Very informative and educational. You must stop over to see what it has to offer.

The IMA was a wonderful discovery which I was alerted to via various media. I teach RE, spirituality and Studies of Religion at the University of Newcastle, NSW so this was a fascinating display, which also included meeting and chatting with some of the staff; and getting some contacts who could help me resource my area to assist my students. I only had an hour so I want to go back and "dwell upon" the exhibition in more depth. Highly recommended, uplifting and unifying for all viewpoints and cultures. Visit, have a coffee and think about what you have seen. A memorable experience, Dr Peter Mudge, Sydney, NSW.

Tucked away on a side street is a brand spanking new and interesting museum. Very well designed with clear information and lots of history and visuals. Well explained and good local flavour.

Great brand new museum on Islam in Australia. Short walk from stop 129 on the routes 1 or 8 trams from the city. We spent about 2 hours looking through the museum. Museum contained information about what is Islam as well as a history of Muslims in Australia as well as their contributions to society. Easy access throughout the museum with a stroller with two lifts provided at either end of the museum. We ate a tasty lunch afterwards at the cafe. We enjoyed our visit and recommended everyone else to visit.

Finally got up to this new Museum. Interesting content (introductory) about Islam and about the longstanding and newer populations here. There was more about Islam generally than I expected and I loved the huge photographs of the various major mosques. I think the section about inventions/contributions to civilisation could have been a bit clearer. My friend and I really enjoyed it and he was a slightly reluctant attendee. There is a great current exhibition of sufboards decorated with Islamic visuals.Didn't get to the cafe. Thought the shop lacked material related to the museum content.well worth a visit; we went on to nearby Sydney Road to a Lebanese bakery for a meal.

Love how you can meander within and from room to room to find new delights. Entertainingly informative. Great balance between entertainment and information - different forms of media used to impart information - and the early days of Islam in Australia as well as Islamic inspiration in Australia now. The most significant aspect of this museum - besides the amazing and delicious food in the Modern Middle Eastern Cafe! - is the strong focus on Islam in Australia. Important for Australians and others to learn about this to understand that Islam isn't a "foreign" concept in Australia any more than "white Australia" is.Highly recommend coming along to the monthly artist salon. Great minds, free flowing conversation, informal chat. A surprise each visit.

Professional, engaging, superb. Well worth a visit. Great cafe, and contained displays that were interesting for both adults and children.

The IMA is a much needed cultural and artistic intervention attempting to break down stereotypical images of Muslims and Islam in Australia. Highlighting the past and present enormous contributions that Muslim Australians have brought to our multicultural country is illuminating. The food in the cafe is also fantastic! Five stars!!

My visit was amazing such a beautiful place. Thanks to the staff and volunteers for sharing with us. If you don't know anything about Islam then you need to visit and learn. You will be suprised the peace you feel in this building and you take that with you when you leave.

Learn everything from faith to history, art to science and dark vs golden eras of the world.... Especially good for young children and youth

I didn't know the extent of the Islamic existence within Australia until I visited the museum. Good content overall. The building was easy to navigate and well laid out.
