If you want to have a bbq here with work mates, better not get a 3rd party to do it, you need a permit, you have to advise them a long time before and they charge a lot. we had 10 guys and we had a roast spit guy who was cooking the food, serving at and clearing it up but we had to cancel because they have a blanket rule about caterers. We fell under the same rule as if we had 500 people and catering.wont even try next time
There are bike trails here and lots of lush green open spaces. The park huge with good facilities and walking trails. Great place for an outing , barbecue or picnic
We live within walking distance of Jells Park and regularly use its walking paths. There is a variety of tracks through bush settings, open park areas and around the lake and wetlands. The park is part of the Dandenong Valley network of parks and you can continue either south or north along the valley for many kilometres, walking in a bush setting that usually conceals the fact that you are in a green belt cutting through Melbourne's eastern suburbs. Madeline's is a nice cafe near the centre of the park - it's a nice spot for a cup of coffee with an outlook over the park and the lake. There's plenty of car parking on the fringe of the park.
This is my regular walking park. Variety of walking tracks, children play ground, bird life, quaint lake, a good restaurant, heaps of free BBQ, cycle track..and much more
There are bike and walking paths. A lake with bird life, barbecues and picnic tables. Great place to take the family.
Our latest visit was for the Monash Carols by Candlelight. It's our favourite local park. Two big playgrounds for the kids. Good trails for bike rides or walks. Good for a picnic on a warm day. Lots of space for kite flying. We have been here on public holidays and weekends, but there seems to always be space to fly a kite or for the kids to run around. We'd buy a coffee as a treat and have a walk with the kids down to the lake. It's bliss.
We are lucky enough to live very close to Jells Park. We love to walk the many tracks to explore nature and wildlife. The playgrounds are fun for my boys and the Farmers Market, while small, is an added bonus. A place full of activity yet quiet and peaceful at the same time.
just off ferntree gully rd . nice for bike riding ,take a picnic has a lake.be careful its snake season so watch where you walk in the wilder areas.don't let little kids roam there and don't go trecking in the bushy bits
Nice walk, nice coffee shop, plenty of space. Varied wild life, many look out points, lots of parking. A few hours of easy walking and easy cycling. Not strenuous at all.
We love doing our walk to Jells Park from High Street Road or Norton Park, lots of birds to see on the way and in the park, if you are lucky you might sight of a Little Falcon. In the lake there is a variety of water birds. Nice walk around the lake (without dog), plenty to see. Enjoy a break at Madelines Café or bring your own picnic. Its a great day out or just a couple of hours for all ages.
This is a medium size local perk in the SE of Melbourne. Jells park has something to offer to everyone: 3 great playgroundsone lake and three small ponds (one with water lilies).tea house and information centrelots of BBQs undercover and in the openoff-leash area for dogsbike and skate rollers tracksbird watch sheltersLiving close by we come here quite often. More often with kids for BBQ or just let them run wild, but sometimes with my girlfriends for a walk and gossip around the lake.It is great in any weather as people can go in the tea house and have a cup of coffee and pancakes. Bike tracks run as far as Lysterfield Park.We had a few kids parties there and everyone loved it. I highly recommend this park.
Good for a simple walk or a full afternoon, Jells Park is a great outdoor location. Big lawns to run or play ball, nice playgrounds. Plenty of room. Access is not too easy, makes it special! but all the maps and smart-phones tell you where to go. Can't miss it, if you really want to go there! The lake makes for good pictures. Bring bikes or balls to play with. Plenty of room.
This park has been local to us for some time, we enjoy riding our bikes here and around or pack the kids and the dog (dogs must be on a lead) and go for a walk, there are a few playgrounds (some could do with an upgrade) even its busy there is plenty of space for everyone. Wood bbqs are in abundance too and wood supplied.
A great place for a family or friends BBQ. Heaps of space to kick the footy or run around. We take groups of 150+ there and there is plenty of parking and space for everyone. Watch out for total fire ban days though
The restaurant occupies a convenient spot in Jells Park. There is ample parking. Kids and pets are catered to. Relaxed atmosphere. Unfortunately selection and quality has declined.
