Having just moved into the Heathcote region we are looking forward to visiting every one of 35+ wineries within close range of here. Sanguine Estate was the first. I am not a wine snob but do enjoy a nice heavy or hard red. On the day we went there, the estate had run out of Chardonnay! Not a problem for me as I am not fond of white wine but it must mean it is a good drop if they have already run out. This is quite a young winery, less than 20 years old, they had 6 or 7 Reds for tasting, I gave the Rose a miss and started at the lower end of the scale and worked my way through to the "D'Orsa" top of the range Shiraz. They were all quite nice, but I prefer the lower end of the price bracket, not due to price but due to that end of the market usually suiting my untalented pallet. I really liked their "Kindred Spirit" Shiraz and came home with a case of 12. At $175 for the dozen I thought it a good choice. It is, supposedly, a "drink now" vintage, which suits me fine, no use having a huge cellar if you cark it before you get a chance to drink what you bought :)
