Wow!Seriously, it just goes to prove that sometimes the best things in life are free. The walk around here is beautiful. The fact that there is plenty of wildlife to me is a bonus. There are b.b.q. facilities and picnic areas for families with public conveniences too.The walk allows you to see many different ducks and birds. There are kangaroos and wallabies along with ibis and emus. It is clean and a lovely walk. Whether it's for the day if you bring food or an afternoon walk (like we did ) this is so worth a visit. Well done Parks Victoria.

Went as a family of 10 (6 adults 4 children ages 8-13) Hardly any animals at all mainly heaps of ducks and water birds. Expected more kangaroos that you could feed and animals walking around. The grounds were a mess. The 2 owls that we found were stunning but for the drive from ballarat wasn't worth it. Free to enter but would be nice for some more birds like cocktails ect. Great rock look out not far tho to go look at. Could be a fantastic place if the owners wanted.

Lovely Sunday stroll through the Sanctuary. Loads of birds, emus and kangaroos. Facilities very good, although others need to learn to share when they are limited. Facilities however wever very clean even on a busy day. Take a picnic or a snag n sauce and its a lovely serene spot for a family get together!

we were totally surprised at the great animal exhibits at serendip sanctuary and would recommend it to all. Best of all there is NO charge for entry. The walks are short and well graded and good information is provided. In particular it was great to see the highly endangered Quolls particularly as I know of no other sanctuary which displays these little carnivores. Another animal rarely seen is the Bustard and it was stunning to see how large they are.

Serendip Sanctuary is a great opportunity to get up close to Australian birds and animals. Many overseas tourists have also visited this site which is close to Melbourne and Geelong and agree that it is a unique and unforgetable experience. The site consists of bird hides where you can watch the lager variety of water birds in the two lakes ans well as walkways to view kangaroos, wallabies emus and Cape Barren Geese uo close! Well worth the visit.

We have visited this place on 3 separate occasions and it always a must when we visit Australia. Very friendly staff and a lovely walk on the wildside with the kangaroos and emus. Only spotted a koala once, but will keep looking.

A great place to start our weekend of scenic walks around the Werribee/Lara area, our group of walkers meet for a picnic lunch to be followed by a 2-3 hour walk through the Sanctuary in the afternoon. we were not disappointed, and being a avid photographer the bird life provided a memory card or two of memorable shots. The wet land areas contain more bird life than you can count, from spoonbills to Musk ducks, brolgas, ibis, herons, cormorants, teal and brown ducks just to name a few. In the enclosure areas you need to be alert to spot some of the 'disguised by nature' animals such as the tawny frog mouth Owl. You can wander within centimeters of wallabies as they lurk amongst the underbrush, and within meters of the much larger kangaroos and emus. A close-up encounter with an aggressive Brulga, who decided that it could use its long beak to leave its mark on my camera lens, left me wondering if it was indeed a real Brulga or rather a Bustard that shared the enclosure with it.Either way, I suggest you don't stick your camera through the camera slot in the wire fence if the Brulga is that close!

Stopped off here en route between Melbourne and Queenscliffe and spent a couple of hours. Not much shade and many ants when we visited but the animals were the stars including to Roos.Heartily recommended could have spent longer.

I recently went here with my partner, sister and nephew. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.We did the wildlife walk twice and got to get close to animals that we normally wouldn't see up close. There were gaps in the fences of the breeding pens so people could get a better look/photo. The free animal areas were brilliant. We got to get up close to swamp wallabies, magpie geese and emus. I really loved the two bird hides that were along this walk. They were really accessible and contained a wide variety of wetland species. I saw several birds that I had never seen before. We got so close to a tawny frog mouth in the aviaries and got to get up close to tiger quolls.My nephew loved looking at the frog and microscope in the visitors centre. It's a great place to allow kids to get up close to wildlife. There are educational posters/signs everywhere if they have questions.It can be difficult to get to if you don't have a car. We caught a taxi from the train station for less then $15. You can't purchase anything here so will have to bring anything you need.

This is a nice place for a walk or family picnic/BBQ. It would be especially appealing to bird watchers as the wetlands are surrounded by hides with good viewing areas. There are Kangaroo's, Emu's, Wallabies, and a vast array of birdlife including the Brolga, Bustard, Cape Baron Goose and a few variety of Owl just to name a few.It would also be a great place to take foreign tourists for a close up look and some interesting native wildlife. Well worth a visit!
