In all seasons a must-see attraction for those who like outdoors/nature. A variety of level walks on offer, signage could be improved. Amenities all there; toilets/cafe etc and children's playground, well worth the car park fee. Lovely atmosphere walking around the rocks, please keep this place unspoilt as so many have enjoyed it through the centuries.
Hanging Rock Winery delivers a wonderful experience for the entire family, speaking as an American, I thoroughly enjoyed the landscape and especially the wildlife including hundreds of kangaroos on the grounds.I don't know if this type of wildlife is common, or everyday to Australians, but its a special treat for a visitors from the Americas. My friend was from Buenos Aires, Argentina and he was also very impressed. Although I do not drink wine, I did pick up a couple of bottles as gifts for friends back home.
We visited this winery with another couple last weekend. We were quite impressed with their range - there were good budget level through to more expensive and we found quite a few to our liking. If you do visit please take the time to take in the view as it is amazing. We found the lady who looked after us to be very friendly and professional.
A great visit. Superb tasting experience, which was extensive, leisurely and extremely professional. Amazing location with stunning views. Cow hides also for sale which look quality and unique. Definitely worth a visit.
Hanging Rock winery was extremely popular on the day of our visit and the hostess did a wonderful job to accommodate all parties.Would have preferred a quieter and more relaxed visit however.Did not really get the time and attention we would have liked.Really loved the flagship sparkling, and enjoyed several other of the wines.
We were in the area and thought it would be nice to visit this winery. The cellar door is a little ugly but has a beautiful view. The salesman was listening to the races on the radio and didn't look happy as we walked in. He never turned the radio down and was not very forthcoming with information about there wines. We left after a couple of tastings and went to Paramoor winery which was much nicer!! We didn't by wine from this guy as he was not welcoming.
I've visited a few wineries in my time and was quite disappointed by the Hanging Rock Winery. I mean, the wine was good but when we arrived (at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon), there was one other couple in the cellar door. The man running the cellar door barely greeted us, and was serving this other couple and spending a great deal of time with them. That's fine, we thought, we were happy to wait and then receive the same service. However, whilst we were waiting about 8 more people came, so we didn't ever quite receive that level of service. Additionally, it was more of a just "what do you want to try?", glass poured and that was it. I enjoy being told about the wines, that's why I'm going to cellar doors and not just the bottle shop. As one final downside, my husband found a hair in his glass. When he asked the fellow if he may have another, the guy took it, inspected it for ages and announced he couldn't see it. That may well have been the case, but we weren't lying and felt a bit...I don't know, like he thought we were just complaining for the sake of it. Overall it was just - weird. Having said all that - we did buy a bottle of the sauv blanc, it was delicious!
If you're in the area you must visit this 5 star winery, there's a huge selection of wines to try and all (I tried) were of top quality. Great location where you could grab a bottle and sit outside with a view of the vines, Hanging Rock and the mountains.
