I was introduced to the Wesley Anne by a musician friend, whose jazz band was playing there. Liked it. Warm-feeling and well-proportioned room for live music, plus a big bar and eating areas occupying the rest of the premises. Tram stop nearby.
The Wesley Anne signals class from the moment you spot the entrance. This pub has three distinct areas catering for drinkers, listeners and diners. The extensive menu offers much more than you'd expect in a pub. Great food and reasonable prices. The music genre changes depending on which night you visit. Suggest checking their website. I've dined at The Wesley Anne on several occasions and it's consistently good.
This Northcote institution is a combination of restaurant/bar/band room. They serve a range of modern meals and beers/wine/cider but err in the side of a little overpriced. The parfait is the bestest and so are the range of vegetarian meals that usually go beyond the usual pasta or risotto offerings. There is also a large outside area much like a suburban backyard filled with oddly matched tables and chairs. Come here for comfort food a drink and to catch some local talent in the band room.
Always fun and has a good atmosphereAlways worth a visit for an offer dinner drinkGood selection of beer and wineFun band / gig room to the left...Getting a seat is critical!
This rustic setting with its dim warm lights, was a welcome warm spot to avoid the cold winds outside. We enjoyed a steaming hot mushroom risotto which was the best I had every had, and I shared a seafood dish with a ricotta gnocchi, equally sublime. I love this place and go there each time I visit Melbourne. Very reasonably priced as well. Good prompt service
Music, bar, beer garden, light food, full meals, great vibe. Really is a melbourne gem. Great vegetarian options, changing menu.
This is a music venue (why we were there) and bar that serves great food. We ate in the main bar before heading through to the music room. It was a cosy atmosphere, busy but not too loud, with plenty of tables and a couple of larger booths to the back. The menu was superb, with a great range of vegetarian dishes and daily specials. Everything we saw coming from the kitchen looked great. I had the mushroom risotto, probably the best I've ever had, with lots of flavour and big chunks of mushroom. My husband had the curried lentil, cauliflower and haloumi pie, which he loved. It was served with buttery mash, chutney and a salad. Everything was reasonably priced and portion sizes were very good. Staff were very friendly, and we headed through to the music room for the 3 live acts on that night. A pretty young crowd, probably due to the age of the musicians, but there were a few of us oldies and we weren't out of place. There was also a good age range in the bar, where live music was also on as we ate. A great first visit, and we'll definitely be back.
The slightly gothic Wesley Anne pub is a converted church dating back to 1854. It is zoned off into three distinct areas, the huge front bar, the band room and an extensive leafy beer garden at the back. There's a decent selection of craft beers on tap and the food starts around $20 for a main. At weekends there's free live music in the band room and in winter a very welcoming open fire.
Great pub. Good food great music Atmosphere cosy and warm. Recommend it for a beer or a bite.Music is always interesting.
Great for lunch and dinner with specials and tapas. Live music during the summer for great vibe. Handy location in Northcote for train and tram. Watch out for the uneven pavers, I have seen someone trip and fall over (no it wasn't the alcohol).
