Our experience of the Segways wasn't as glowing as some of the other reviews.Firstly our experience was tempered by the staff at Rochford during our lunch. Segway users were clearly an annoyance to the staff. We were bundled together on tables, and received sub-standard service. Coffee and tea was from large pots similar to what you get on a plane trip, as we watched other patrons receive freshly made lattes and cappucinos. Lunch choices were limited to 4 items, all of which were poor quality. Wine was offered before the meal, my husband said he'd like his wine when the food came, he was told 'I can only give it out now, not later'. What?! Attending to the Segway patron's table was a bit too much trouble. We circled our meal choices on a piece of paper, and the waitress simply looked over our shoulders to see what we'd circled. No mention of: "I'll take your orders now", nothing. We didn't know if food was coming or not. She clearly didn't want to communicate with Segway people. Then we made our way out to the Segways. The safety video was not able to be heard over the noise of the cleaning equipment being used in the shed next door (we had to ask for it to be turned up). Using the segways was relatively easy. But it wasn't exactly a 'tour'. We trundled around the area in front of the Day on the Green stage. Then we followed some dirt tracks through the vines to the car par area. We spent some time doing a figure 8 around the car park. To be honest, I found it a bit boring (sorry). Doing figure 8's in a dusty dry car park doing 20kms per hour, didn't float my boat. Our group also included three young children (under 10) who were unaccompanied. Their parents had sent them on their own on the tour. Not much Segway Vic can do about that I guess, but they took up much of the attention of our guide. We then moved on to the "4x4" track that weaved through bumpy bridges, a see-saw, dry creek bed and a steep incline. Both directions took about 30 seconds to complete. We then headed up towards the main road and back to the winery. That was it.We were given vouchers as a present, and I'm glad we didn't fork out the actual cost. Very expensive for what it is.
So Much Fun!I went along for a friends birthday and didnt think it would be as fun as it was! we spent 2 hours laughing and having the best time! If you think they are dorky and not worth it - think again as i will now do segway tours when i travel! Our package included luch at Rochford Winery and they were able to make me a nice vegan barley ragu! Highly reccomend!
Had a great time on Segways at Rochford winery today. Callum our guide from Segway Victoria was very helpful, he did a great job making sure we were safe while enjoying the experience. I would definately do it again. Well done Callum.Rochford winery was just lovely, meal was beautiful and staff very friendly and efficient.
Great fun and was so easy to get the hang of.Callum our guide made the experience very enjoyable. We took our 12 year old son who had an absolute ball.Would thoroughly recommend it no matter how old you are !!
Last Christmas I bought my husband an outing at Segway Victoria at the Rochford Winery. We did the afternoon session, so had the included lunch beforehand. We were both very impressed with out meals - I had the seafood risotto and my husband had the wagyu steak. Both meals came with a glass of local wine. The service was impeccable and we finished with a coffee before meeting our Segway instructor in a nearby building. The training for the Segway was comprehensive yet very simple to follow. I volunteered to go first, and I highly recommend that you do too, as it means you get an extra 20 minutes or so over some of the others. The day starts with everyone on their Segways in 'beginners mode', and if confident you're later put onto the unlimited mode, which is a lot faster and a lot more fun! They have an obstacle course for you to try, as well as a big ride around the winery and plenty of free time. These Segways are the off-road style and are great for all types of terrain. I'm told that they're also faster than the slim-wheeled city versions, which have restrictions placed on them due to pedestrians and traffic.I would highly recommend this tour to anyone and we look forward to doing it again in the near future.
Meal at Rochford was excellent .Travis the tour guide was great ,taking the time with every member of the group to ensure everyone had a safe and enjoyable time.big thumbs up to Segway Victoria
We had a great family day out at Rochford on the segways. Travis made the learning lots of fun and we were hooning around in no time. They are super easy to ride, even for the coordination challenged like me! The course is well designed to add interest and challenge as the session progresses. The lunch was a great way to compare experiences and share photos over delicious food. I thoroughly recommend this experience, we'll be back again soon! Thanks Travis!
Had a great time, no trouble learning how to ride the Segways, Callum our instructor did a fabulous job teaching us the basics and then setting us off to get a good feel for them, he was a really nice guy who could gage our level of confidence on our Segway and guide us accordingly, it a fun experience. Rochfords lunch was lovely no complaints there. All in all a great day
My husband has been wanting to ride a segway for a long time. I booked for both of us and our teenage son. We all had a great time. Callum was a great teacher and we were zooming around in no time. My only suggestion is to the ladies wear a sports/supportive bra for comfort as there were a few ruts and corrugations, which only added to the fun. The lunch afterwards was very nice and was enjoyed by all the adults in our group. (Although a less gourmet option would have suited our son better.) We really had a wonderful time, highly recommended!
Thank you to Travis for taking us on the tour of Rochford. Travis must do this tour so many times but he was so patient informative safety conscious and of course funny. Great cross country tour through the vineyard and grounds of Rochford followed by a lovely lunch. Thank you Segway Victoria and hope to see you again soon
After a lovely lunch at Rochford, we joined the group with our segway master, Travis, guiding us through the basics before we were off around the winery. Taking off slowly before we were all in top gear as new experts on the segway. A fantastic way to fill a lazy Sunday afternoon.
We arrived early for the afternoon tour and were shown to our table straight away. The staff at the restaurant took our orders and our meals arrived very quickly. Food was delicious. The very friendly and professional guide Callum came over to say hello and, because there were only the two of us on this afternoon tour, we could start when we were ready. After a short video on safety it was time to learn how to ride a Segway. With Callum's clear instructions we were off and travelling in no time. He gave us a little time on 'slow' and then after we gained our confidence we were off traveling at 20k/h. Hooning around the paddocks and having a ball. The obstacle course tested our new found skills. A ride through the grape vines, photos at some lovely locations taken by our ever friendly guide, a race on the lawn of the winery and then time to go. The tour went too quickly. A wonderful day at a beautiful location on the fun Segway. Highly recommended.
Hot day and just after j Barnes concert, removal vehicles in the way. But guide Callum is excellent in his job. Time for tour, obstacle courses, snap photos and 25 k speed. Food is excellent. Beautiful experience!
A colleague at work asked if I wanted to go on a winery segway tour. Winery? Tick, Segway? Double tick! Talk about a great combination. Throw in a yummy meal and it was the perfect afternoon. We arrived around 12.30 for a 1pm lunch in the restaurant and to meet the rest of the people on the tour. Only 6 of 10 of us turned up so it was off to great start because it meant we had fewer people to contend with. After a fun lunch talking to the other couple and the instructor, we headed off for our safety briefing. I was sceptical that I was even going to be able to stand on the thing let alone operate it at speed. A mum and her two young daughters arrived late and I thought - here we go - kids, drama, annoying :)Wrong! The little girl (maybe 7?) was a complete natural and picked it up so easily - I was really worried now as I didn't want to look like a goose when even the 7 year old could do it. I was the last one to climb on and nervously followed the directions of the instructor - and hey presto - off I went!. So much fun - we practised at a sedate pace over a fairly flat, very large grassed area, then headed off around the winery - sometimes cross country, sometimes on gravel roads and then onto a mini challenge course with a waterway and small jumps.I can't recommend it enough - super fun for absolutely everyone. I wanna do it again!
Highly recommended! We booked the package of the Segway tour followed by lunch at the Rochford Winery for our staff Xmas party. Our guide Travis was knowledgable, professional, personable and he made the whole experience fun for everyone. We all had a great time and we had a lot of laughs over lunch talking about our Segway morning. Cheers, YvonneDooley Freightlines
