This is the harbour where the car ferry leaves to go to Sorrento and off to one side is the marina. this has many pleasure and fishing vessels with a awl beside it with shops and restaurants. There is also a viewing tower looking over Queenscliff and the ocean across to the other side of the heads that is worth the effort of walking up the stairs or using the lift.
Plenty to do on the harbor. Coffee and good fish and chip shop, In good open surroundings. The tower is worth going up for the views . A few shops in the area and boat trips for diving . Worth the trip if you are also visiting Queenscliff
Fabulous restaurants and cafes surrounded by million dollar boats what a great place to sit and take in the view while having a coffee or drink. Make sure you go up the tower the view from up there is awesome, there are stairs or an elevator to the top so everyone can take it in.
Yes its a harbouf. Yes there are some shops and a tower. However i think some of the reviews are merging the town, the ferry service and the harbour into one.I cant consider this a great harbour. Its not central to the town which is 2 bloxks away. Sure drive there if your in town but hard go see this as a 5* location in its own right
We ventured to Queenscliff by way of the Ferry from Sorrento for a day of sightseeing and shopping. We went to the Harbour first and discovered a wealth of shops and restaurants. I was able to purchase some soaps in one shop that would be 20% dearer in the town. We also had a steak sandwich from the end Fish and Chip Shop which was massive and absolutely stunning. For $12.95 it had a beautiful piece of steak with cheese, beetroot, pineapple, egg, lettuce, and tomato. One of our party got the steak sandwich without the extras for $7.95 and it was nearly as good. The chips were fresh, crisp and abundant. Needless to say, no one walked away hungry. I should mention the calamari. The rings were $1.50 each but it wouild be a challenge to eat more than 6. They were huge. After lunch we walked up into the town of Queenscliff and I must say that it was same old same old from our last visit. Shops were trying to make their rent with each sale and there were no bargains to be had. One nice exception was the Gelati Shop in town, not the Ice Cream Parlour. It has a beautiful selection of Gelati and I had two scoops...one was honeycomb and the other salted caramel. Gastronomically, it was a terrific day.
What a great place! Relaxing, wonderful views, great shops, lots of choice. Fantastic lookout too. Definitely add to the to do list!
The visit of the tower is free. The view excellent. The activities the services all around unique. Everything above and beyond of our expectation. We strongly recommend to visit this place. You will enjoy.
Lovely harbor and atmosphere. Beautiful array of boats and activities, and the best coffee ive ever tasted from Charlie Noble! The tower is fantastic to go up and FREE too not very often anything like that is free these, days. Highly recommend visiting the area.
Been in freey with car in some other country, but, this is THE TRIP !The ferry is so nice, beautiful, safe. The Staff help to guide you on board, with very friendly instruction.I love it so much, it is a wonderful 45 minutes ride. All worth it !
One day is enough to visit the area nice walk and good panorama of Philipp Bay and the ocean from the tower. Good also to who like shopping
loved the shopping experience and the walk up to the lookout is worth it - take the stairs if you have the mobility
sort of a shame not to see the old fishermen sitting around the slipway and so many old couta boats replaced with rich mens toys. guess thats progress , nice if you like a cup of coffee and want to shop for country road style clothing, fish and chips ice cream ect I guess....
A delightful area.with cafe's & shops overlooking the ocean.Every hour the Car & Passenger Ferry arrives from Sorrento & returns. The Ferry always creates a bit of excitement as to who one knows might be on it.The Harbour is only a short walk from the Town Centre & it's additional shops & many attractive cafe's.Highly recommended as an area to visit for a day.
Approaching the Queenscliff harbour from Port Phillip Bay on the Searoad Ferry always evokes in me a desire to reach our accommodation, unpack our bags and head back to the harbour to soak its maritime environment. A walk along the wharfside promenade gives ample opportunity to ogle the luxury craft moored there and contemplate what it would be like to jump on board and take a day cruise watching the bay dolphins. The Harbour also has a selection of shops including restaurants and the lookout tower which gives a panoramic view of the whole Queenscliff township and harbour area. On the town side of the harbour, on the perimeter of the carpark, there is a collection of ships chandlers which are often worth having a look into to see the odd, vintage timber clinker being lovingly restored. Well worth taking in the sights if in Queenscliff.
The harbour has a relaxing atmosphere. It was unfortunate that it was a cold day when we walked there so we didn't settle there for a drink or food. The best part is the magnificent view from the tower. It is ever changing and is totally captivating. It was a bit cold up there . Otherwise,I would have liked to have stayed longer .
