lovely rustic cellar door location. Friendly staff and nice live music during our visit. Very quite location.

We visited Redbank Winery and immediately were impressed with the welcome we received. We tasted a couple of wines and then ordered a cheese platter. The cheese platter was sensational. The Shiraz we had we it was a top quality wine. The service provided by the staff member was friendly and professional. We were extremely impressed and hope to return again

Sally was a delight to deal with and made booking a large group of people so easy. Her ploughman's lunch is terrific and goes down easily with the top quality wines available. Thanks again Sally for a wonderful day at Sally's Paddock.

We've just returned from a weekend at Chestnut Cottage more than content. The cottage was immaculately clean and the bed comfy and warm. We had a lovely bottle of wine and fruit bowl waiting for us along with breakfast provisions of Turkish rolls and yummy jams. A large selection of cereals was also on offer. However a new toaster wouldn't go astray. We were pleased with the newish flat screen tv which took our USB to watch episodes of GOT- perfect with a bottle of red. The cottage is rustic with a lovely outlook. We also enjoyed a delicious ploughman's lunch, cake and coffee included in our package at 'the flying pig' 100m away. Perfect spot from which to explore the winery's of the region. We had dinner out at Warrenmang and the Avoca hotel which were both excellent. Hope to come back!

It is worth remembering that the percentage of varieties is not an important factor in the composition of Sally's Paddock. In fact, part of the vineyard is promiscuously planted (a field blend). The core philosophy of Sally's Paddock is to create a complete wine—we aim to create a wine that principally reflects its single-vineyard terroir. Therefore, the proportions of the varieties is not our principle consideration. However, the blend is made up of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz, with small amounts of Merlot and Malbec.As a result of your feedback we have made efforts to improve the information available at cellar door, with product sheets now being available. We apologise if our service was inadequate, and we hope you will give us an opportunity to redeem ourselves in the future.

Set in a lovely landscape of native trees, vineyards, cork oaks and olive trees, this hand-built winery is a local icon. From the hail-damaged shingle roof to the massive ironbark roof trusses it is a wonderful place to taste wine. The wines are excellent and a unique expression of their maker's belief in alowwing the wines to express themselves much as the French do. There is also a great range of home-made cakes to enjoy as well a various platters of cold treats like a ploughman's lunch.

This cottage is charming on the outside, set in beautiful vinyards, and has Molly, the world's friendliest dog to enthusiastically greet you when you arrive.Inside, the place feels like a very basic holiday home, with mismatched furniture (including a pretty grubby couch), a very small TV that doesn't get a signal unless you stand touching the "rabbits ear" antenna and a shower that fluctuates between hot and lukewarm every 5 seconds.A few small improvements would make the world of difference, including decent blinds, a proper wardrobe, updated tourist reference material (and ditch the ancient magazines), a new toilet seat cover (the current one has been unfortunately splashed with the brown wall finishing - disconcerting!), change the grinning frog shower curtain (they were mocking me as I went from warm to freezing and back again in the mornings!) and improved flooring that doesn't feel like it's been lifted straight from a beach hut. A few choice light fittings to cover bare globes, replace the garish New Orleans Mardi Gras posters in the living room and the plastic chairs on the verandah with something a little more comfortable and it might feel a bit more welcoming.These things are all largely a matter of taste, however, and the sheets were spotlessly clean (and had cosy electric blankets, for which we were very grateful), the air was fresh, and if you wanted an inexpensive family getaway (and like reading and board games) this might be perfect. We put it down to "rustic charm" and tried not to lament the lack of luxurious touches!The winery itself is very pleasant, although rather limited for food choices, especially for vegetarians.

I'm not sure how to review this place... I liked the secluded feel of the cottage on the property. I liked the look of Sally's Paddock, the barn-like building that had a cafe... but I have to say that the food available was very limited and quite pricey and we didn't have room to sit down as there were only 2-3 large tables available. I can't fault the hosts as they were more than lovely to us on arrival and on check-out too... a continental breakfast was provided in the room (turkish rolls & spreads, coffee, tea, etc) and a bottle of wine from the winery.However - I felt the cottage was in need of finishing off... Proper heating, a blind over the doors to the decking, the bad smell when you walked in on the first floor , which may have been from the mouse problem the region had a while ago (smells like some had died nearby!). The place did feel a bit 'cosy' and had a nice view of the property from the 1st floor, but it was pretty basic... A TV and DVD were advertised as being included but had been removed - which would've been handy for a quiet night in as the weather was bad one night. The location was good - short drive to Warrenmang Vineyard, but to be honest we would've preferred to stay at that winery instead if they'd had any vacancies that weekend.

Ignore the map, postcode and most other details listed on tripadvisor website - they are entirely wrong! We rang the winery to get directions. The Redbank winery is postcode 3478, and is at the 192km post on the B220 highway. It is north west of Ballarat, 18km past Avoca. This winery is a wonderful stop-over when touring the Pyrenees. There is also a delightful self contained cottage on the property, with a charming cellar door and deli at the winery just down the hill. We had a delicious lunch complimented by a magnificent Pinot sitting out on a terrace overlooking the mountains and vineyard. We were lucky to be there on a Saturday when there was a local musician playing guitar and singing folk songs.
