I was delighted to visit the home of many of the little solera selection bottles resting in my cellar. I had an excellent tasting experience and look forward to saving room in my suitcase for next time! Highly recommended!
We decided to call in to Buller's mainly for the bird park and not their wine (can you believe it, I can't). The bird park was interesting enough, but badly in need of some attention. A 2 metre snake out sunning itself soon brought the tour to a halt. Needed to taste their wines after that little experience. Found them to be representative of the area style, without setting the world on fire. Maybe the snake episode had mucked up my palate.
Professional and friendly lady providing wine tasting. Knew the product well. Shame the bird park looks a bit neglected.
Their top shelf muscats are to die for! A lot of money for a small bottle, but outstanding depth, richness, complexity and taste. Worth every cent! Try some!!
We were served by a knowledgeable man who had a somewhat aloof manner but warmed over time to be actually very pleasant. We enjoyed his commentary on the wines as well as of course, the wines themselves. I was most impressed with the Shiraz varieties that peaked with the top two options. Very nice wines and well worth a visit here.
We came here while to Easter sale was on. They had great prices on cases of wines. Champagne, Shiraz, moscato, Chardonnay, port etc. they had everything it was great. We got the chance to taste at the bar before buying the ones we liked in the shed out the back.
Went to Rutherglen last weekend with three friends, Buller wines was the stand out for us. Our Hostess was great, and we were blown away by the wines, the shiraz was to die for! we all bought a few bottles! We will definatly be returning. delicious!!
Weve been here before and bought wine. This time the whole thing was just weird. One of the owners took us under his wing and proceeded to talk about films and tell bawdy jokes while we worked our way down about 50 bottle line of wines. It felt wrong and cheap, and we didnt enjoy or buy anything. Sad as last time we bought cases of the Calliope. Their loss I guess.
We've been visiting Buller's in Rutherglen for about 33 years and are devotees of their old Muscats and Tokays, which we also buy regularly in Melbourne. We also enjoy the bird aviaries. Unfortunately, this visit disappointed in two ways. Firstly, the one girl serving was more interested in eating her lunch than helping customers. Secondly, the cellar door prices were high. For example the Fine Old Tokay was $24 at cellar door, but $15.99 in the local Rutherglen IGA bottleshop and we can buy it anytime for $17.90 in Melbourne. I am happy with cellar doors being a little more to cover service costs, but this much - and for poor service? We'll still be drinking Buller fortifieds - we still regard them as some of the best, but won't necessarily visit the cellar door on our next visit.
Arrived on a cool damp afternoon and were the only visitors at the time. Our hostess was a Buller family member and the service was outstanding. Have enjoyed Bullers wines over the years and the quality is always up with the best. Nice facilities and well worth the visit
Great cellar door with table wines that are continually improving. The muscat, tokay and vintage port are however the stars of the show. If you like your fortifieds (or table wine) this is a must visit.
Thought keeping birds in conditions like this had been banned in civilised countries.Little or no access to fresh water or vegetation.
I wish to purchase bottles of frontiac wine,But local Stores where I live at Hervybay Queensland have not heard of this wine, Can you help me.I do not know of anyone i Victoria that hep me/Kind regards Bill (billy) Griffithl
The lady who served us was really pleasant & attentive. She also knew the history of the vineyard. This place had a larger variety of fortified wines than other places we went to.
I think the lady serving the tastings had a bad day and was most unwelcoming. The sparking was warm and the merlot was corked.
