Chambers make some unique wines, full of flavour. We have ordered it for years and visited the winery itself to taste the range of what they produce. It is a low key, low pressure cellar door with resident friendly dog that chummed up with ours as we tried the wines and chatted to Chambers family members. Cleanskins are very good value. We really enjoy the aromatic riesling and powerful roussanne. We also bought their gouais, which is the ancient parent grape of many other varieties and we bought The Family, a tasty white blend. Chambers are renowned for their fortifieds. The winery is on the outskirts of Rutherglen.

I almost missed it, but that won't ever happen again! Excellent, amazing, etc.. etc. - even though I was already over my purchase limit, you just can't come away without taking some home to share. Expect a full range of varied and interesting selections of all sorts. Something for everyone - all done well - and plenty of opportunity to narrow down your favorite(s). The Walnut Muscat is a winner, (frozen, like Roberta showed me, it is incredible... I was so scared to put the whole bottle in the freezer, lest it crack and break my heart, but it was fine!) plus, the other muscats, tokays, and so on are superb. Make sure you have room for more - you won't regret it! What fun! Oh - and don't miss the doll case. (We had one growing up, but this one is better!)

This place does exactly what it says it does, and has been saying for years. No pretentious signage and unnecessary frippery, just very good quality wine at simply sensational prices and unpretentious friendly service. It's not just cheap, though - we went away with a few cases of everyday quaffing wine at $65 a box but also some magnificent muscadelles at $55 and $100 a half bottle - all superb value. Chambers has been doing fortifieds for 150 years or so, so you'd expect them to have it right by now! So if you love good wine and unpretentious, authentic surroundings - no polished metal in sight, but lots of real wine barrels - then drop by for an interesting time. With lots of space in your car! And subscribe to the newsletter too for regular reminders of their cheery approach to wine and life. I hope this place never changes!

Chambers are one of the few still doing high quality fortified wines (ports, muscats etc) and also have a wide array of very good, very affordable wines, red, white and rose. One of the older wineries. Been many times, never disappointed, everything on tasting, not pretentious just know what they are doing.

It was the last winery we visited on a rather damp Sunday afternoon and what a delight it turned out to be. We ended up being the last one's there, and so had Mr Chambers (Snr) all to ourselves. He kept us well and truly entertained as we sipped on this and that, giving us the full run down on Campbell's and Rutherglen. A history lesson and wine tasting all in one. Their wines are well priced and of excellent quality, truly representative of the area.My favourite was their muscat. Will definitely be visiting again when next in the area.

Thank you for your review. We believe that varieties such as Gouais, Cinsaut (Blue Imperial) and Mondeuse need to be preserved for the future just as some of the wine styles we make need to be.

Thank you for you review. Glad to know that you enjoyed the informal nature of our tasting area and you found that the staff were informative whilst not being pushy

We recently styed at Rutherglen for 2 days and one of the highlights was our visit to Chambers Winery. it was a great old style winery full of history and we imagined just like tho "Old Style "winery. the wines ,especially the fortified ones were sensational. They had a great buy on a clean skin Red and I was glad I had my car, I would defiantly recommend a visit there, for not only the wine ,ambiance but also the friendly service, something some of the other wineries in Rutherglen lacked.

I was amazed upon our arrival here just how good the wines were for the price. This no-nonsense winery that focuses on selling great wines at great prices is unbeatable when it comes to value for money.Their extensive range of options means there is something for everyone's tastes. It's a self service tasting set-up also. Friendly, cooperative and accommodating staff top it off. This is one not to miss in Rutherglen.

We haven't been to Rutherglen unless we visit Chambers and sometimes we are lucky enough to chat with the legend himself, Bill Chambers.Unpretentious and generous with tasting bottles lined up for your enjoyment. This leaves the slick modern wineries for dead! Long may it remain as it is!

Loved the chance to pour our own tastings! Great wines too. We went home with 2 or 3 bottles! Very casual and relaxing atmosphere.

An old fashioned tasting room tended by a very charming lady who couldn't do enough for us. The wine was variable and most were not to my taste however the fortifides were fantastic, I walked away with quite a bit. We were offered tastings on anything we wanted including the Rare Muscadelle which was without doubt the best I have ever tasted, it was based on wine 60 years old. Unfortunately I couldn't afford it at $250 a 375ml bottle but I will always remember it.

Thanks for the review. You are obviously 1 of our long term customers who have visited us many times thank you for doing so. It is great people like yourself who make the effort to visit as well as the new customers which make it all worthwhile. Cheers

Thanks for mentioning Bill in your review. You are quite correct he is quite a character. Now days he tends to man the cellar door on Sundays and will occasionally pop in at other times. You are also quite correct in mentioning a wide range of quirky wines which can be just as much a curio value as good quality.

Thank you for your kind words. We work hard to get the 'daggy' component of our cellar door right. Our cellar door has been operating like this for over 40 years with just a couple of moves within the winery from out on the verandah to the shed we are now.
