A casual drive to Talbot Markets was not disappointing. We arrive lavish and so a few stalls had sold out but it was not enough to spoil the outing. The food selection was not enormous but enough to be interesting and good tasting. We had a pulled pork roll from one of the stalls and loved it. Interesting bits and pieces to keep us interested while we strolled at a very leisurely pace. The previous comment about the number of dogs was relevant but we saw no problem dogs during our visit and there were plenty of them. So all in all a nice day out.
Dear wetwo62, Thank you for taking the time to review the Talbot Farmers' Market on Trip Advisor and for sharing with us your concern. We, the committee of management, greatly share your concern regarding dogs at the market. We are currently working through this issue as a top priority and can assure you that we will work toward finding a solution. While we love that our Farmers' Market is set in the village street scape of Talbot, being a public space it is our current understanding that we do not have any rights to control the restriction of the public from walking their dogs in the area on market day. We are currently speaking to other markets around the state with regards to how they have managed the issue of dogs in their public market space and we are also liaising with the local shire regarding this matter. Thank you again for bringing this issue to our attention, it is unfortunate and please know that you are not alone in your concern. I can assure you we will do all that we can to address this matter as soon as possible. I do hope that your love of the Talbot Farmers' Market will be restored and you can once again feel confident to be one of our many passionate attendees every month. Kindest RegardsJayne Talbot Farmers' Market - Marketing Officer
Visit Talbot during the week and well....it is a ghost town with little commercial or residential activity and minimal ambience. Visit on the third Sunday of any month and the town centre is transformed. Stall holders purvey second hand wares, provender, crafts and produce. Streets are busy with hundreds of visitors and locals. Local buskers belt out old fashioned 'rock n roll' or 'country and western' classics. Patsy Kline meets John Denver. It's the Talbot Market and it keeps on improving. Recent streetscape works in the township, road resurfacing, and renovations on historic properties are lifting the tenor and ambience of the Sunday market experience. Pity they cannot spread this activation across other weekends or days of the week. The secret is to time your visit and experience one of Victoria's premier market experiences. And well, if you go outside the third Sunday of the month have a poke around Talbot and then move onto nearby Clunes for a glass of Beckworth wine, bakery or sweet shop experience.
My bestie and I are into doing markets runs and this was our first visit to Talbot and the market was brilliant. Delicious foods to sample and purchase and the range of fresh produce was incredible. I filled my trolley twice. Will be going back again and again, well worth the drive.
