It's Lilydale lake Park. Visited many times. It's good for family BBQ. Lots of parking spaces. Seen few people playing cricket, so make sure you must take football or cricket gear. If you can drive up to Lilydale, it's worthy to visit Maroondah dam. Such a nice and natural view over the water dam. Also can test local bakies pastry and lots.
The Lillydale Lake is one of the best facilities in the area. It caters for a wide variety of users and is a very popular spot. The area is very picturesque and is a great spot for a barbecue, a picnic, or a stroll around the lake itself. There is a really great playground for the kids and the lake perimeter is a magnet for walkers and joggers. The lake is very popular with kayakers and canoeists. A stroll of the main walking area takes you into a delightful wetland area with a myriad of birdlife.Ma and Pa's Coffee Van is often in the car park for a welcome coffee.
This is a wonderful place to walk, take dog, Sail a small or toy boat or canoe. Bring a picnic and chairs to sit under lovely trees and enjoy the day.
We have lived in Lilydale for 35 years and the development of Lilydale Lake was something which all local residents embraced and still enjoy today. Whether you want to walk around the lake or sit and fish, let the kids enjoy the sandy beach or just simply play in the playground, there is something for everyone. You can bring your remote controlled yachts or just have a picnic and/or a BBQ. If you are going to come on a nice day for a BBQ, either send someone ahead to "bag" a BBQ or bring your own portable one, as it does get very busy. Overall, a great place to suit everyone of all ages,
very peacefull, plus family related excellent for taking the kids to plenty of bbq area?very relaxing for the average family that just wants to get away from the house for awhile and give the kids a bit of play time plus you can go for a swim only in certain areas though?
Thank you for your review. Your comments will be forwarded to the Management team at Lillydale Lake.
We visited in Spring of 2014. Lovely walks around the lake and plenty of plants and trees to observe. A great experience if you're visiting outer eastern Melbourne.
It's nice. Only problem is if you decide to walk 4km around the lake the only public toilets are by the main car park and the lack of shade around it hot and sunny days but otherwise good. Lysterfeild lake is also another nice lake to walk around.
love the walking track, good playground for the kids, lots of parking. Its 4.5 ks around the lake- from memory. So its a good walk.
I'm sorry Lilydale locals, but I'm about to expose your secret! This place is a totally hidden gem - it's a huge, open lakeside space with so many options for activities. Many people visit to walk, jog and push prams to enjoy the trails that encircle the lake. Others come to fish, paint or picnic with friends and family. You'll learn much about the history of the area and the native wildlife from the regular signage and separate wetland area too. There's barbecue spaces and picnic tables. It's really great. Anyone wanting a reasonable distance for an aerobic workout will be happy with the lake perimeter trail, I'd say. It's great.
We feel very fortunate to have Lilydale Lake on our doorstep, good for walking exercising and a very good play park for the grandchildren. There is very good parking and it is good to see so many people at the lake enjoying the benefits of the open spaces and facilities. The council have recently added more picnic tables and gazebos and at weekends and holidays there are always so many families enjoying barbecues and picnics. The small beach area is an attraction and watching the model sail boat clubs competing. There seems to be something for everybody. The only downside is the very irresponsible dog owners who do not pick up their pets poo around the walking track round the lake.
This is a lovely scenic area, suitable for all ages. The kids playground is great, and there is plenty to do. It is also a great place for large family gatherings with plenty of bbq's and shelters. There is plenty of birdlife, and sand for the kids to play on. We visit regularly mostly to to complete a brisk walk around the lake.
Loved walking and jogging around the Lake. Also cycling is another option during summer. Fishing is available for keen fishermen even though the fish are smarter and never gets caught. The wildlife is astounding with black swans, pelicans, wild ducks etc.Another activity is eating and doing nothing with a picnic rug and a basket of goodies. The view is beautiful yet serene. But if there are men with muscles, barbequeing meat could be their thing. Lots of sitting area with sheds so this is possible in winter too. Great place to be with yound families.
This is a lovley scenic lake, with sand for kids to build castles, and paddle in lake, or feed ducks.plenty of grass area for picnic, plus shelters to sit under and have a meal, also the play area is great for the kids, both young and older.
Our family loves the lake. And whenever extended family and friends visit for out of town we come here. Over the years we've walked/run around the lake, kayaked in the lake, kids have used the playground, taken dogs to the off-lead creek area, played frisbee and football on the large grass areas and had countless picnics and bbqs.
