bendigo visitor centre

Have visited the centre twice in the last 5 weeks, explanations from really helpful staff have put us on the right road. There is an abundance of pamphlets and maps, plus a programme for the new theatre.

Very informative well presented and helpful and we also went on the tour of the Town Hall and this was amazing the Visitor Centre supplied a very good guide

A terrific, mainly voluntary, staff are highly motivated to assist you have a fulfilling visit to Bendigo and environs.The former Post Office has been very imaginatively converted into a Visitor Information Centre and the staff are experts on suggesting places to visit and providing how-to-get-there maps. They offer help in finding accommodation. An adjoining room normally houses a display of arts or crafts by top local artists, local products are there for sale, as well as souvenirs for a large price range and quality. The former postal chamber, now administered by the Bendigo Art Gallery, houses displays based on Bendigo's history. These are changed approximately quarterly. To make the Visitor Centre as available as possible, short-term free parking is available in the adjoining Sidney Myer Place.Guided tours of the former Post Office are very popular and are arranged through the Visitor Centre.

the staff were very helpful.there was also an art exhibition on the premises. easy to find a park space here as well

Bendigo's visitor information centre is in a splendid historic building, the city's former Post Office (1887) and is open daily. The building also houses an art gallery and a space for local artists. An inquisitive friend of mine discovered the Visitor Centre has put together a little guide to the city's opportunity (charity) shops. With the help of this pamphlet we got around three or four of the op shops and enjoyed buying a few items. As the Bendigo area has quite a lot of unemployment and disadvantage, it's an unfortunate fact that Bendigo has a lot of op shops. It's good to know these shops are operating and their volunteer workers are doing important work.
