We were researching family members and were lucky to contact the lady who is on the cemetery committee. She met us there and was able to show us our ancestors' plots which we would never have found otherwise as they were in unmarked graves.Looking at the headstones of many of the graves one saw that in the 1880's so many children had died early. Being in Tower Hill/Koriot it was also interesting to see how many of the people had come from Ireland.

This cemetery, like most others is a rich repository of names and connections to European settlers in the district. Vital links to wider Australian history are also resting there: the local boy who was killed in the infamous Shearer's Strikes for example. This cemetery is a fascinating place to visit. It's setting is windswept and bare; it's not a pretty place but it is a rich one.

Brilliant walks, wildlife and scenery. Watch out for the snakes!!! Although we only saw the one, we were a little on the cautious side, as we do not live in a country that has numerous creatures that can kill you!!!!!!! Certainly recommend a visit.

Tower Hill cemetery is well worth a visit, see evidence of the Irish settlers in the area. Nearby is the site of a volcano and national park which is also of great historical interest.

Beautiful and peaceful monuments. There is no on-line index yet, but worth a visit to ready the stories and pay resepcts.

On the road between Port Fairy and Warnambool. If you're passing and like me, have a liking for cemeteries drop in and have a look. It's only small but has quite a sizable pioneer section, the most notable 'resident' would be William 'Billy ' McLean who was shot and wounded during the shearer's strikes of the late 19th century.

This Cemetery is full of History, and personalities, The author Henry Handel Richardson's father Walter is buried here along with many pioneers of the district. William McLean is also buried here who was shot during the shearers strike in 1894. His eptitaph was said to be written by Henry Lawson. In modern times we have the Noble prize winning Biologist Sir McFarlane Burnet buried in 1985.

This cemetery is my favourite with all of the ancestors having a great view of the beach - peaceful, serene. The rabbits have done quite a bit of damage over the years and you do need to be quite careful of holes but the cemetery trust are doing a great job of reconstruction and you can definitely get a feel for the Irish immigrants would developed the area in the 1800's - just love it and highly recommend a visit.
