When there is a swell the local grommets are there in force, great waves for beginners. Opposite a bar/resturant and great place to watch the sun go down.
Food was average, although it came out quickly it lacked flavour. One friend at our table returned her creamy garlic prawns & rice as it was overcooked, under seasoned, floury & inedible. The waitress however would not accept that & brought the plate of food back out to my friend & demanded she explain what was so bad about it?! Much to the horror of everyone sitting at out table. The waitress took no responsibility for the food not being upto standard & actually insinuated that it was my friends fault/problem for not liking it. There was no offer to exchange or refund her food. Its such a pity because its a beautiful spot next to the beach but its not enough to encourage our group back.
Go for the roast night with the family often, great food and service, good value for money with a big family :o)
We park in the car park across from the Hungry Hollow tavern. Right next to the car park is the toilets and a shower on the outside to wash the sand off.Where the steps are that lead to the beach there are two more outdoor showers and a drink fountain. There is also a small grass area and a couple of bbq's and benches and tables. On the beach you don't find too many dogs and it doesn't really get packed out. The waves aren't too big, so the kids enjoy it there.
For a buffet style all you can eat roast, the place was very tasty, well cooked and value for money.
Hungry Hollows beach is a sandy beach next to Back beach in Bunbury.Usually there are small waves sometimes bigger ones. The water is crystal clear and there is a small reef just off the beach where snorkeling is possible.I enjoy the silence and isolation here. Here you may find a half dozen people sometimes the beach is yours alone.I love to walk along the beach towards the lighthouse and enjoy the splendid sun sets into the Indian Ocean from the beach.Access to the beach is easy, parking is readily available just off the beach. Hungry Hollows Tavern is opposite the beach with drinks and meals, there are special days for meals, which are then very cheap and nice.i lived there for several years before moving to Perth and swam there every day of the year.I still call the beach Copacabunba, a reflection to Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro where I been several times as well.A nice beach experience for people who can swim, it's not for poor swimmers or small children.
When we were there hardly a wave so could swim safely. Gives a really good idea of West Australian beaches. Had showers and toilets.
Love Monday nights roasts, a bargain and very tasty. Great view over the ocean. Friendly staff. The beer garden out the front has the best sunsets.
My husband and I had a Roast lunch here and enjoyed it very much. The meal was cheap and plenty on the plate.
I haven’t tried the breakfast yet but had lunch and diners and it has always been a pleasure. The place is average (not fancy) but the food and staff are always nice
I have been to Hungry Hollow and it is basically right on the beach! The scenery is great and it is a very enjoyable environment! Would recommend coming back for drinks with friends to 'chill out' and have some fun!
The view is great, you can see the beach if you sit out side, staff are nice, the food is good and every tuesday or wednesday they have specials on
