这是西澳大利亚的沉船博物馆,这里展示了一些重要的沉船残骸和物品,对研究西澳大利亚的历史非常重要,作为游客也是觉得非常有趣!

Not only does the museum contain a couple shipwrecks, it also has large ship models and authentic cannons. If you have some time, read the profiles of the numerous intrepid explorers. The history associated with these crews is also fascinating. The admission is FREE but you may offer a small donation. The museum is stop 17 on the Blue Cat bus.

I cannot praise this museum too much, both for the wealth of information and quality of display, but particularly for the Batavia exhibit. I was informed, engaged and entertained and would visit again were I in Freemantle.

The museum is full of really interesting artefacts from ships that came to grief around our shores, and as you walk around the rather mundane entry hall there is nothing there that prepares you for the spectacular Batavia Gallery. This alone is worth making time to visit the museum - Absolutly fantastic!!But don't stop there, because it really has an interesting story to tell.

I only thought we would be in there for a few minutes but we took 90. Being local and a diver, the shipwrecks are often known to me so of great interest. Entry is free but we were more than happy to pay the suggested $5 donation.

this tells a lot of stories about the dutch and others coming to Australia and obviously not able to navigate the coast line. they do ask for a donation of suggested $5. allow plenty of time though as we had to leave early because of the parking restrictions around Fremantle and had run out of time on the meter.

This is a choice piece of history, presented in a very professional, yet casual manner. There are lots of authentic items to view, such as genuine silver coins from the old sunken ships. The museum is well laid out and spacious

If you are intertested in Australian history then this is for you! I learned more about early nautical history here than anywhere I have previously visited. Amazing artifacts from shipwrecks which predate Cook. In oparticular the remains of the Batavia. The museum is free!

This was a GREAT stop. The coast of Australia was not a hospitable one and there have been many shipwrecks. But in this museum you find information and recovered artifacts from OLD shipwrecks. In fact, we had no idea that there was so much "action" around Australia so long ago. These wrecks go WAY back! Too, they have a large portion of the hull of one of the old wrecks on display. Just fascinating. You can spend an easy 2+ hours here, with lots to see, lots to read, lots to think about. I'd make this my #1 stop in Freemantle, if I were you.

His is a great museum to wander through with the kids. During the holidays activities are run such as treasure hunts and various crafts this summer it was a treasure map and pirate ship and they cost $1-$3 per activity. My kids love these and the staff are always fantastic.Parking is close by as is the beach, parklands and fish and chips. Always a good day out and we return almost every holiday, so much so that the school holiday staff are starting to remember us.

Good information available on displays, you can browse through or really stop and study the information . Affordable and welcoming school holiday activities.

An excellent display of part of western Australian maritime history. The rugged coastline took its toll in by gone eras so this museum provided us with some of the history. Worth seeing

We mistakenly made the Fremantle prison our first stop which meant that we only had a limited time to spend at the Shipwreck Galleries. This was a pity because there was so much to see and the presentation was first class. We really felt we were living through history and would recommend this as something not to be missed. The Batavia might not be as big as the Mary Rose wreck in Portsmouth but it is every bit as riveting. If you only have time for one visit, I would recommend this one.

Went to the Shipwreck Museum in Fremantle. A very interesting insight into the Western Australian coastal wrecks. Excellent displays and a few really informative videos to assist with understanding the work and efforts that go into restoration.Free admission with a request for a donation - can't get any better than that. Well worth a 1-2hr tour.

it was amazing to see all the bits and pieces of shipwrecked ships. And also how they got back to land :). Even the kids enjoyed it thoroughly.
