If you are in inland Western Australia, the nearest drive to a beach is about 2 hours away to Albany. Lakes are the next best source of water body.The salt-water lake is located around 20km east of Katanning.I would never have discover Lake Ewlymartup if not for a local Katanning girl who brought me here for dinner picnic in the summer. It is not something you usually can find on tripadvisor. The day we went was Dec 23 2024 and it was exceptionally & unusually windy. Though there are picnic benches around, we ended up eating at the back of the car so that our dinner doesn't fly away. The dogs who went with us were super happy and even had a swim in the lake.There is plenty of wildlife and nature abound as we took a walk around the lake with the doggies. We spotted the Christmas spider and plenty of wildbirds (some near extinct). Then we saw the spectacular sunset. If you want the type of holiday which is not over-run with tourists, this is a highly recommended pristine spot.
