We took our 1 year old to Sunflowers as she loves all kinds of animals and we weren't disappointed. The animals all looked healthy and were friendly so she could get up and close to them. The food buckets are a good mix of grains and vegetables and lasted the whole walk around. There is also a playground there for the kids to play in. There is also a bunch of minions for the big kids to get photos with we will be back.
There is nothing to dislike about this place. The staff are excellent, very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. The animals are obviously very well cared for, but always happy for extra food from your bucket. The perfect way to relax and forget about any stresses.
We love Sunflowers farm and always visit with the kids when In Margaret River. A fun place and gives the little ones hands on interaction with a variety of animals. They have sheep, goats, kangaroos, emus, horses, alpaca, rabbits and lots of other small animals that we can feed from the buckets of food that can be purchased after entry. Watch out for the pigs as one of them in particular appeared to get very aggressive but other than that all animals very friendly and cute. A good place to keep the children entertained and they sell delicious ice cream too.
We stayed here for 3 nights, and it was awesome! We got to feed all the animals anytime we wanted, play with the puppies and border collies, and my gal had a daily pony ride, not forgetting also the tractor ride! It was a lovely stay for me with a 5 yr old, and i'm glad my daughter got to interact with all the farm animals and grew so fond of them. The farm is conveniently located close to the main town so that we could drive around and get our amenities and food easily. Whilst we toured other parts of Margaret river daily, returning to sunflower animal farm at the end of the day was lovely coz the lil one would made her animal feed rounds and spend the evening at the playground. The owners were also very warm, helpful, friendly and took very good care of us. It was a lovely stay! Highly recommended for those with young kids.
Maybe its just because I grew up in the countryside, but I didn't get too excited by this! For the international visitor be aware that a few small kangaroos and an emu is all you'll get in terms of Australian animals. Otherwise its horses, sheep, pigs, rabbits and other critters I grew up around anyway (ok, ok, I didn't grow up around a llama or an ostrich). Its perhaps smaller than I was expecting too.One bucket of feed was more than enough for us (they cost $4 each). There is a playground, although its a bit weather-beaten.
The animals were cute and cuddly, lots of babies and the kids had a great time. They were however very dissapointed because it was advertised that baby animal feeding was at 10am and we came back to the main area at 10am on the dot and were informed by the staff that "they had already fed the animals" This was very dissapointing for the little ones that we were with as they were looking forward to the bottle feeding and had to miss out. It wasnt like they were super busy or anything, we were one of about 4 families in the whole place so yeah, really dissapointed! Not great for strollers!!! We took ours and struggled.
Great value and so many sweet little animals to cuddle! We visited three times in all during our week in Margaret River. We also got an unexpected ride on the tractor - fab! Highly recommended for the kids!
We travel to the Margaret River region several times a year and each time we visit Sunflower farm. Its a great place for children. Lots of friendly (and very greedy) animals to feed. Entry fees are also very reasonable and its very close to Margaret River town. Tends to get very busy during school holidays. Go early in the morning. There is also a little playground and picnic tables. The owner and the people who work there are always very friendly and helpful. Aside from farm animals they also raise orphaned kangaroo joeys. This place is much better than Country Life Farm in Dunsborough. Highly recommended.
Well set out and a good variety of animals. Staff were very helpful and provided commentary as necessary. Regular special shows throughout the day.
Lots of animals to feed, pat and see. It's not a place that you need to spend a lot of time at. They have a small playground area also but it was really filthy so not great . The rabbit hutch was huge and you could walk around with the rabbits, this was my daughters favourite part. All the animals were happy to be fed,and always at the fences so easy to see. Don't wear good clothes or shoes cause you get really dirty fans no paved paths.
Friendly staff and lot of interaction with lots of animals, pony, horses, goats, pigs, ducks, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, alpacus and more. The farm also has orphan baby kangaroos which are so friendly and gentle. You are given 2 buckets of food a day, one in the morning and one in the late afternoon and u are free to roam the farm for the entire day. Pony rides and tractor rides are given on certain days of the week. Our kid loved the place so much she cried as we were leaving on the 3rd day. We had a great family time!
My family stayed at the largest chalet, North unit, for one night on 3 Dec. A pity that we only managed to get one night as the place was so popular and in high demand! Kids enjoyed the entire experience of feeding the animals, patting them, carrying them and even playing with the farm pet dogs, Dizzy, Lily & Sam. Will definitely come back for another visit as we missed the tractor ride which only happens on Tues, Thurs & Sat 4 pm.Accommodation facilities are rather basic and personally would wish to have one more bathroom in the unit. Not convenient for 7 pax to be sharing one bathroom if you are staying 2 nights or more. Location wise, it's very near to Margaret River Town centre for meals and grocery shopping, and other attractions such as the caves, the Yallingup Maze and the Yallingup Shearing Shed.
I've been to Sunflowers Animal Farm twice, and both times have been great. You can get up close with the animals and experience them hands-on. Around 10am and 4pm there is bottle feeding for some of the animals and we were allowed to help hold the bottles for the lambs, goats and calves. Entry is $11 and the buckets of animal feed are $3 each and you can come back and buy more if you choose.
Great place to feed and interact with both native and farmyard animals. The missus got to hold a joey that made her day.
