We went there for the wine festival. Great music, charming surrounding, lots of car parking space, heaps of lawn for one's chairs & picnic rugs. A couple of 'competitor' wine makers were also invited to set up shop within the compound. Grape stomping and cooking tips from Adam Liaw (Masterchef winner) rounded up a perfect but wet day.
A great little find. Good affordable food and wine with magnificent views and friendly service by people who are passionate about what they do.
After a morning hike up Talyuberlup in the Stirling Range we were looking for a lunch option on the way back to our Porongurup accommodation and found just what we needed at Ironwood Estate Wines. A small but effective and good value for money lunch menu, tasting of wines and a glass for lunch. Views are excellent which makes lunch all the better. Friendly service.
Stopped in for an unscheduled lunch on New Years Day. We were able to taste the wines beforehand and chose what we would have with lunch (Sauvignon Blanc) and I bought a couple of Chardonnays to take away - both were good quality and well priced.Lunch was homemade Lasagne and Quiche. The views are also stunning with a panorama of the Stirling Ranges from the deck. Most importantly the hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming and we'll be back again for sure.
We visited quite late one afternoon, on a cold and dreary day. Gene and the lovely doggie greeted us and made our group of 4 very welcome. Having had some expereince with Scandinavian people, he discussed places with some knowledge and interest. The wines were great - and as we had tasted them before on Ironwoods visits to Esperance, were were happy to try again! Worth a vist - wish we'd had time to stay for coffee and cake as well.
Simple, good value but tasty lunches here. The prices make a nice change for a winery in WA.Its relaxed, informal and has a nice view out to the Stirling Ranges on the horizon. Recommended.
Scenery is breathtaking to spend a day for lunch. Wine is good, local produce such as olive oil sold there including the honey is worth a try
We have been there twice now. We stop over everytime we drive past there. They offer fantastic wines and great price for the quality. My favorites are their shiraz and reserve chardonnay. The owners Gene and Mary are always friendly and chatty. They make the place very welcoming. Lunch menu is simple but the food is very tasty. Great place to visit especially after the Castle rock skywalk.
Together with some friends we stumbled across IronWood Estate in the very picturesque Porongurups in The Great Southern of Western Australia. The views of the Stirling Ranges from this venue are sensational and the snacks provided by Mary, whilst restricted in variety, are never the less very tasty and filling. Being the driver I did not sample wines but others in our group gave a very good report.
We arrived here late in the afternoon and as we were intending having a picnic we asked permission to eat our lunch on the verandah overlooking the vines...Also bought some lovely wines there (very cheap)..Lovely to come across this place in the middle of nowhere..
