wagin historical village

An informative, fascinating look into the history of the area and the life of early settlers. The village comprises of a number of buildings, well-maintained by volunteers, that would be found around a small town from the past (there is a school, a hospital and a church, among many other buildings), each containing lots of interesting displays and artifacts relating to each building. Although the village would benefit from a small number of interactive, more engaging displays, it still is a great place to break up a car journey.

I found this place really interesting and loved it , just to see the history of the town was a great history lesson

We travelled to Wagin with just the intention of meeting the Ram, but decided to stop briefly at the historical village.Now, this place is run by volunteers, and we went in without much expectation. However, this place is VERY informative, well-presented and a pleasure to stroll around!Wagin may not be on anyone's bucket list, but seriously, give it a go, and the historical village. You won't be disappointed!

Near the historic village - on the main road - is the BEST almost FREE roadside caravan stop area - with power - I have ever been to. Spotless amenities , Fantastic undercover BBQ , feel safe - live in caretaker who collects a small payment each night. Its just near the big merino and you can walk to the pubs / food.The local council are to be CONGRATULATED for this caravan/motorhome facility and caretaker Mary does a great job.

And it isn't this historical village! Its the Giant Ram (with giant male parts to match), the best "Big" thing in WA ("big" things are pretty common in the Eastern States, not so over West).

I do not have the right historical background to judge this, but I think you have to be some sort of historical nerd to enjoy this.

The Wagin Historical Village is near the Wagin Woolerama ground. Entrance fees about A$6 pp for which you get to see a broad range of buildings with pretty good signage to give you the background to each building - homes, trades, shops, church, bank etc etc. Some good examples of settler properties - generated a few pangs of sadness as we read the personal stories.
