Last July we made a reservation for a wine tasting through Juanico's website. When we got there they had no record of it and were quite rude about our being there. They reluctantly let us taste a few wines and told us they weren't equipped to handle visitors in the winter. I was disappointed but figured it was off season and anyone can have a bad day. We made reservations online for today and again were greeted with the story that they had no record of our reservation. They were even ruder this time around. Perhaps their online reservation system doesn't work well -- in which case they should remove it from their website. If you speak Spanish or have can have a hotel concierge make the reservation you might have better luck. Uruguayan people are almost universally gracious and helpful. The staff at Jaunico seems to be an exception. Go to Bouza if you want to visit a bodega where you will be treated well.

We took the train from Montevideo to Juanico and then went by coach to the Winery. The train trip was enjoyable. The train itself and the carriages were in very good order. Saw parts of Montevideo you may not have otherwise seen. The Winery itself was well laid out and the buildings well preserved. The restaurant was excellent. The food was sumptuous and the wine delightful. Even bought bottles of red to take back to our cruise ship.

Our lunch and wine tasting at Establecimiento Juanico was one of the highlights of our visit to Uruguay. The winery is somewhat rustic, with a beautiful cellar featuring some historic stained glass. My husband and I ate lunch in an anteroom to the larger dining room, which gave us a very intimate experience. We had several leisurely courses, all picture-perfect and absolutely delicious, accompanied by some really great wines. When we thought we were done, they took us down to the cellar for a tour and some port. The folks at Juanico took great care of us!

This top-flight winery provides an opportunity to sample -- generously -- several of the excellent wines of Uruguay. The tour includes a visit to the fields, where the varieties are grown; some of the wine was unique to the region. The meal features a mixed grill and terrific wines. Everyone was quite hospitable. The locale for the meal was clean, airy, and spacious; the table setting was elegant and appropriate. The grounds also were lovely and well maintained. On this tour, there also was a tango dance performance in the dining room. Very enjoyable and not too long.Tip: From our ship, we came from Montevideo to Juanico by a restored railroad train, powered by a steam engine. What a gorgeous and loving restoration. The track also passes some homes and countryside that one would not otherwise get to see. Highly recommended way to get to the Establecimiento Juanico.

Serving beef to Nebraskans is always risky, but they had really good beef in a old winery. We were with a large cruise group. Views of the country side were neat, but my wife attempting the tango were in even greater. A good time was had by all...and that was just for lunch

One of a kind experience if you're traveling around Montevideo. The staff is great and all around the best. The winery itself is gorgeous, they show you the whole process and explain in a easy/slow paced Spanish that even my portunhol could understand around 75% of it.Just be carful with the drinking. The wines are really smooth, at least what we've got, and you can get drunk really fast.I went in a kind of private tour with my fiancée. We were the only 2 at the 10 o'clock tour so they showed the winery only for us 2.Plus they switched the order of the tour. They went first the tasting than the tour trough the fields.

My wife and I visited estabelecimiento Juanico on mid January 2014, and we had a great time. If you forgot to make the reservation, like we did, just call in the morning, because getting to the place is easy. But my advice is reserve in advance, so you can go by shuttle and drink as you please. My wife had the premium menu, and the wines and the food were really good. The staff is friendly and we definitely recommend this place.

The best parrilla I've ever had. The sausages, mollejas and the stuffed chicken are unbelievably good. And the top wines are really impressive...starting with the Preludio Blanco, tinto, Massimo Deicas and their late harvest made from Tannat. Reservation is required as the lunch starts at punctually 1:00PM.

Just a few days in Uruguay? If like wines you'll be better go to Juanico, a very close city to Montevideo, they have good steaks and you can be introduced on Tannat wines. Estabelecimento Juanico from Deica's Family it is for sure a good program.

What a nice place for a day get away from Montevideo. We could have spent the entire day there. The service was outstanding, the meal great, the wine tasting great, the talk about the wines very interesting. We went as a group and it was a good decision to hire a driver to take us out and to return us to the city. Beware, Uruguay has a ZERO tolerance for driving under the influence. This is a place where we will take visitors and return ourselves for a day tour.

Finally a venue whose staff know how to treat tourists and understand what they are looking for when visiting a foreign place. They have a very kind treat to everyone as well as a developed work dynamic. A place worth recommending with excellent wines, food and service.

My husband, our 3-year-old daughter and I visited Establecimiento Juanicó on the 18th of February 2011. We were very lucky to be welcomed by an excellent guide named Diego. Extremely interesting tour, exquisite place and fantastic wine tasting experience! We had a really special time there.

Recomendo a visita.

Vale muito a pena ir conhecer, degustar vinhos!! Junto com a degustação eles trouxeram salame, queijo, etc... Muito delicioso!! Lugar lindo! Tiramos muitas fotos boas!! Precisa de pelo menos metade do dia pra aproveitar...
