Mercado Agricola Montevideo – MAMMuch More Than a Farm MarketWe had a fun afternoon strolling around MAM taking in the beautiful architecture and having a delicious lunch in the food court.Loved the food court – from a “have it you’re way” Chivito restaurant -Chivitería (Lo de Pepe), to freshly made zucchini quiche from Tia Alicia’s – La Cocina con sentimiento a tu salud. The food court also has a stage with scheduled live music and dance performances.Pellicer restaurant is also a nice restaurant with grilled meats, sandwiches or just a place to sit, have coffee and people watch. We enjoyed looking at the displays of colorful fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses, fresh pasta, and a gluten free store. HidroMarket by HidroFarms had beautiful, fresh plants and greens. Strollers are available and we saw a grandma wheeling 3 strollers at the same time. The walkways are wide.MAM is located a few blocks from Palacio Legislativo and is worth a visit.

This is like a public market. It used to be a farmers market. You can go there, see the fresh fruit, enjoy the architecture. If you happen to be there at noon, you can have lunch there. There is a good restaurant with a good barbecue. It is clean, and well organized.

The title is misguiding. It is not only about vegetables and fruits. Several shops and restos available. Pleasant place, worth a visit

This place is an old food market restored a new mantaining its structure and look. Inside you can find food stores as well as crafts and other services. It´s a place for a good slow visit. Going there you can visit at the same time the Parlament of Uruguay wich is nearby.

I knew the area of the market, but never actually visited it, I presume it was already abandoned in my youth, but after many years of work the Municipality reopened this old market with the beautiful iron arches, in a nutshell, must see place, as well as the other market, the Mercado del Puerto, the tourist bus, has a stop, it has good parking if you drive. Nice stores and good prices for fruits and vegetables, as well as a Food Court, as in any shopping center, the restaurant there, seemed nice, but prices were very steep, so we decided to go elsewhere to eat. But, it is a place to visit in Montevideo, and is near the Parliament, so an important place to visit.

You could find nearly anything here, from fresh fruits, vegetables or wines, chocolates ... Anything you may need. Moreover, the market building was great, full of historical vibes. But somehow I felt it is becoming more and more touristy, as it was changed a lot since our last visit in 2013.

We went to the market expecting a real fruit and vegetables market, but it is not the case. The building is lovely, there is air conditioned (great during the summer), but the restaurants are expensive and not that differentiated.

The market is located near to the port and when we visited it was very very busy. This indoor market is packed with food stalls and eateries frequented by both tourists and locals. The markets architecture is very nice and definitely worth a look. Of a weekend locals have handicraft stalls outside the market. Well worth a visit!

Close to the palacio del gobiernoThere are shops it will probably change in next few years as the neighborhood appears to gentryfy itself. Of note a mural in a cafe by the punta del Este painter Carlos Paez Velaro

I guess after going to the Port Market my hopes were very high, Although the renovation of the building is superb, the retail mix choice is subpar with many unrelated and uninteresting stores (electronics, supermarkets, etc.). And although it sounds weird it is way too clean for a market and a bit out of place in this neighbourhood (it lacks grittiness). There are a few good stores like the Mastra beer place, a tea place, and a seeds and oil store, but for the most part it doesn't look too appealing. It is quite convenient if you are a neighbour, but from what I hear, locals complain about it being too expensive. Overall, I wouldn't recommend unless you stumble there, which is unlikely.

Nice fruit and vegetable stands, also "delikatessens" that sell wine, cheese, ham, sausages, bread, chocolate, you name it. It even has a shop of very tasteful home appliances. Everything is very clean and it's housed at a beautiful old building.

Gorgeous shopping center with local products display very neatly. Lovely restaurant with lots of character within.

Very clean market, with real market stalls, but also featuring cafés, places to eat parrilladas, and nice small shops that sell articrafts and organic food. Beautiful wooden toys for the young ones

Definitely visit it to see it in action but it essentially lots of restaurants. Expensive and generally for the tourists. There are cheaper place for an Asado BBQ.
