This was a wonderful day trip out of Santa Cruz. Short boat ride (less than an hour) followed by incredible wildlife that you see up close. I consider it a must-see island. Just be sure to slather on the sunscreen, wear a hat and bring water because it is HOT and there is no shade.

After arriving at Baltra on the Galapagos and riding the panga over to our ship, the Santa Cruz, our first expedition was to North Seymour Island. What an introduction to the Galapagos! Honestly, if you did nothing else, this would be the island to see. First, the landscape is nothing like you would expect... volcanic outcroppings, small shrubs, leafless trees, cacti, and many rocks with no beach area. We saw a myriad of sea lions, fur seals, sally lightfoot crabs, blue-footed boobies, frigates, gulls and iguanas. The place was teeming with life on land sea and air. For such a small island, the wildlife on it was incredible.

You will not regret landing here for a 1.5 mile stroll. Be sure to stay on the designated trail, and be amazed by seeing baby sea lions up close, land iguanas, frigate birds, blue boobys, and Nazca Boobys!

My friend and I were lucky enough to get to spend a day on and around North Seymour Island on a yacht (the Sea Finch) which is privately operated but booked through our hotel (The Royal Palm). We were two of about 16 people on the tour and it was a phenomenal day. After being bussed to the small port area (same place you take the ferry to Baltra airport) we were taxied our to the Sea Finch - a beautiful 3 level yacht complete with bathrooms and changing areas. We started by boating to North Seymour Island (took about 30 minutes on the boat) and then disembarking for a walking tour (1.5 hours) around the island on a well-marked path with our guide. There you see land iguanas (the brighter, bigger cousins of the marine iguanas) as well as two species of frigates, blue-footed boobies and a rare sea gull. We also managed to spot some baby sea lions near the water. The walk was not taxing, just very hot and there is no respite from the sun. After, we went back to the Sea Finch for some snorkeling near the cliff sides of Seymour. It was during our snorkeling that we were lucky enough to have 2 sea lions playfully swim with us for part of it. The area also has lots of sea life and marine birds flying around so you have plenty to be entertained with. After snorkeling we had lunch on our boat and then were taken to a secluded beach area where we saw sea turtle nests and marine iguanas. Then we called it a day and headed back to port. If you can arrange for a tour of this area, you must do it! The wildlife abounds and you will make memories that last a lifetime.

I love it all. Have no dislikes. food was good, service was excellent, snorkeling was the best. Too short of time.

We spent a week on Santa Cruz island and took a day trip to North Seymour. How delightful to witness what Mother Nature has to offer in this unique part of the world. We saw many male Frigate birds in full mating splendor along with their precious young. There were blue footed boobies, land iguanas and sea lions - it was all spectacular!

We hiked along the island of North Seymour. There were many marine iguanas. The sea lions with their golden pelts are stunning. The island is home to the largest colony of Magnificent Frigate Birds. The males were doing their mating ritual and displaying their expanded red sacks, at the base of their throats, to the overflying females. There were also many young bird chicks, almost within touching distance waiting on the return of their mothers with food. This island was one of the best in the Galapagos.and was an unforgettable experience.

North Seymour was the first island we visited on our week long cruise on Nemo II. The sealions and frigate bird population were incredible and the water so pretty. It is hard to decide a favorite spot in the archipelago since every one is unique. This trip was the most expensive vacation we have every taken but to be close to so much of nature and the unique species is truly amazing.

We went here on our cruise first. Lots of sea lions and birds. It was just amazing. The animals are so close and are not scared of you. This was one of my favorite islands on the cruise.

Our group of six - my parents, my two young adult kids, my husband and myself - just finished a ten day land-based tour of the Galapagos. Of all of the amazing sights and tours, the North Seymour tour coupled with Bachas Beach on the boat Altamar was everyone's favorite. Simply amazing in every way.

Embrace the geography and endemic fauna and flora. This is our changing past and future. Don't forget to enjoy every second and if you have a bad human experience just put it away until you reach mainland South America, don't spoil your precious time spent there!

It's a fantastic trip. We hiked across a lovely beach, and then we headed to Seymour which is great for bird watching and scenery. We saw plenty of blue-footted bobbies and fragatas with their red throat. One of the must-do trips while in Galapagos!

We took an all day boat trip that stopped here in the morning and a quiet beach for some snorkeling in the afternoon and it was one of the highlights of the holiday. When we landed we were immediately surrounded by frigate birds that flew slow low that you thought they were going to land on your head. Next were sea lions, a few came up to pose for pictures for us. Not too far away were some pups, approx one month old. Next came the land iguanas then more frigate birds. This time nesting so you could see the red breasts up close. Finally came the blue footed boobies, again up close so that's more good photos. All this in about an hour. The rest of this land was more of the same. A fabulous morning!

I'm not sure why this is lumped under Baltra since it is its own uninhabited island, but... There is a decent visitor trail on this island so that you're able to walk around and see the sea lions and birds that live here. Great day out to see the wildlife.
