Great Variety of Animals but local and exotic! The anteaters were very interesting and the HUGE Armadillos (I never knew they were so big or smelled so badly!)
I visit this park today , I spend 2hrs with my family and we love it . Lots of animals , the park was very clean and you can see the animals are very well look after . After walk for 2hrs we seat in the restaurant and we have a drink . If you are around in Villavicencio you must visit this park .
The place was well kept and staffed with many, many animals local to the region: pumas, jaguars, reptiles, otters, fish, birds, ant-eaters, etc etc. The name Los Ocarros comes from a family of very large armadillos, the size of pigs.
At first I thought that it was going to be really small and that it was going to be like a 30 walk, but was I wrong. It had tons of animals, I got to see anacondas, rattle snakes (snakes in general), hawks and lots of types of birds, deer, turtles, ocelots… I mean the list just goes on and on. And by the way, the Ocarros are like these giant armadillos, could only see them while they were sleeping though. It was a really nice walk through this park and I really enjoyed it.
This park has a relaxing environment, pretty cool animals and it is a good way to support re rescue of exotic animals that otherwise would have ended up in the black market. Overal it looks well taken care of.
Very nice place, really close to the city, like 20 minutes. Worth the visit. Perfect to go with kids to watch native animal. It is generally very hot so take hats with you, some water and lots of sun screen. You can find refreshments inside and a gift shop.Don’t forget your camera. There is a restaurant inside, we didnt try it but it was like half full when we walked by.
We loved seeing all the wonderful weird native Colombian animals! Please don't eat "Cholao" at the park. It is expensive and not very good. The park is really amazing and very child friendly. We enjoyed very much the tour guides.
The park is really good and you can see lots of fauna and flora. Remember to bring comfortable sportsy shoes because the walk around can get a little tiring
The fauna over at this park was incredible. This zoo gave the experience of walking through a rain forest on a sidewalk with a incredible view. A huge lake in the middle contains lovely waterfowl. A large expanse of exhbits circles the area. This is definitely not your typical zoo. With aquatic animals and a aqaurium this park gives any visitor the trip of a lifetime.
this place shows how amazing and unique is Colombian fauna and nature. plenty of wild animals as anaconda snake, jaguar and alligators. also you can find fish, dears, birds, giant turtles called "ocarros". safe, cheap (aprox u$5 each one) and close to Villavicencio is a great family plan and you can feed some animals.
It is not called a zoo but a bio-park. The park only host those animal endemic of the Orinoco area, from the enormous Anaconda to the giant armadillo called Ocarro that gives the name to the park. You can see there also eagles, falcons, tucans, mountain puma, butterfly tiger, spider monkeys, squirrel monkeys a long variety of snakes and fishes. Do not expect to find a huge zoo with animals from every where is a park addressed to show to visitors what they can find in the local habitats. If sun is shining at full power don't be shy to try a Cholao, it is shaved ice with some minced fruits and a scoop of ice cream, you will be refreshed for sure. Entrance fee is about US$ 5 for adults and US$ 3 for children and seniors.
This zoo is great for families. Set by a lake in lovely scenery just north of Villavicencio it is small and very well maintained, with lots if animals and birds from Colombia.
