Since the coffee tour in Buenavista is a quite young venture, it appears very personal and authentic. You learn not just about processing of coffee but also about economical, social and political backgroungs of Colombia's coffee industrie. To spend an afternoon at farmer Leo's plantage was a great experience!
I was staying in Armenia, Colombia and looking for a coffee tour that wouldn't be like all the others. That's when I discovered Wakecup. These two brothers are just starting this business. We left early in the morning to a lovely small town not seen by tourists, hopped on mountain bikes and made our way to another beautiful coffee town, Buenavista, where nearby we went on a most authentic coffee tour. They are working on starting a hostel in Buenavista. I wish this two inspired entrepreneurs all the best. LWCambridge, Mass, USA
One of the best experience for us in Colombia was the coffee plantation tour by Wakecup. Juan and Carlos spoke English and their tour(s) included meeting the local farmers, visiting their homes and having some amazingly delicious lunch there. Mentioning all the details here is not something I'd do, but ask you to go and experience it for yourself. Highly recommended.
Awesome Tour through nice scenery, interesting and very relaxed tour through the coffee farm where you could ask any Question you like, good food and of course good coffee, what else do you need?
Wakecup is a awesome initiative started by a young couple. The tour on the coffee farm is pure, informative and very good translated from Spanish to English by Juan David and Julia. After the tour we had a beer with them and they invited us over to stay at there place in Pijao. After a wonderfull night on a perfect matrass we went for a mountainbike in the hills. This was very heavy but beautifull!!! If you are in the Salento region we would definitly recommend to do the wakecup tour!!!
I came to Armenia to explore the coffee region (Eje Cafetero) of Colombia and was recommended this tour by my hostel.I'd looked online at other tours which were out of my price range and hard to reach so I was pleased that an affordable tour existed that picked me up from my hostel! It turns out that I had a better experience than I could have hoped for, and got lucky finding this!A perfect mixture of seeing the beautiful landscape, relaxing with a coffee in a traditional square with music, learning about the complete coffee process and being part of Señor Leonel's family for the day!Senor Leonel is a perfectionist and his premium product is far and above anything you're used to. It was a pleasure to see what goes in to his special coffee and understand all of the factors that make it so special. After impersonal trips around the cities of Colombia, this was the first time I felt a part of the culture- not just a spectator, and understood why Colombians are known as some of the friendliest people in the world. The only problem with the trip was leaving!
As massive coffee fans, a tour of a Colombian coffee farm was going to be a highlight of our trip and the guys at Wakecup Experience were perfect. We did the afternoon tour where we were picked up from our hostel in Armenia and taken to Buenavista, sampled coffee from the farm we were about to visit and then walked down to the farm where we were met by the amazing Señor Leonel! The tour was really informative and personal, even to the point where we shared dinner with Leonel and his wife. Its a rustic and real farm that shows the true side of coffee production. Daniel was a perfect guide who spoke perfect English. 5*
It was a soulful experience. Pleasant and charming hosts, beautiful landscape, very good coffee. The farm owner we met, Señor Leonel is a gentle soul and his love for land shines thorough. I recommend this activity.
Awesome Tour with Juan to Leos Coffeefarm. Well explainend, delicious food and fruits, nice view. Really amazing
I was fortunate enough to be able to tour the Pijao and Buena Vista area with Juan David and company, "Wakecup". Juan is knowledgeable, friendly and provides a great environment to get away from the touristy beaches and crowded cities. It was a truly unique experience to get to mix with locals in this remote area and experience the beauty of the "zona cafetera". The coffee was great, the people were incredibly genuine and welcoming and the tour was an excellent addition to our trip. I can't recommend it enough for the traveler seeking an authentic experience in a rich culture.
By coincident we ended up doing the tour at Leo's coffeefarm. First we had a cup of coffee in town and after that we just walked around on the farm. The tour by Leo and translation from Juan was very nice and felt very pure. It wasn't a very polished tour and I mean that as a compliment. Just walk around and talk about all you see. We also had a great lunch cooked by his wife. Afterwards you can by his coffee at a great price. Leo and Juan were very nice and you could really see they started something new and put their hearts in.
