The canyon is beautiful if you can avoid the private theme park portion. Be prepared for hot weather in the base of the canyon. The vistas are great and there are many great walks to be had in the area.
This theme park has two areas, a waterpark and an area for extreme sports and interpretive attractions that explain the history of this region. Both areas are interesting, but the spectacular part is the view. It´s worth it to spend some time admiring the scenery in the water park, and it has been designed for that.
Fantastic sightseeing, beautiful gardens, interesting exhibits, good food... love this place! I have been there several times and it's always a great time. Rather than driving, take the cable car from La Mesa de los Santos. It's worth the small fee!
The Chicamoca is a canyon located in Santander Colombia. There are plenty of traditional towns and things to do around Santander Colombia (think of Santander as one state in the US). For instance if you come from Bucaramanga and go further visit San Gil, San Gil is absolutely beautiful and plenty of activities to do at reasonable prices, that alone deserves one review so I will continue with El Chicamocha Canyon. If you are driving there, the roads are pretty curvy because of the canyon but there are spots where you can stop and view; you might think "is it safe?" Yes, it is. At the Chicamocha canyon tere is a park there called Panachi, you can search online and find out more about it (also see pictures of the canyon) At Panachi you can walk up (stairs) to the top of it, the views at the top are breathtaking and you will appreciate it even more at sunset. There is parking at Panachi and an entrance fee. Also while being there you can see some animals and feed them, it is fun if you bring children. There is a cable ride that takes you from one side of the canyon to the other (back and forth) called in Spanish telesferico. You will be able to see the landscape of the canyon and breath the admiration of its beauty. It is wonderful and you will be amazed!!! At Panachi you can eat, see a small market and basically spend a whole day if you are there to visit. weather here is absolutely amazing, think of 70-75 F
this is an awsome expereince. the gondola goes from one side of the canyon to the other. wonderful view 360 takes 25 minutes one way. our tour started on the one side and than went to the park. the park is surreal as it has a goat, ostricch area, giant swings dune buggies all at extra costs but very cheap by us standards. the monumnet onthe top of one hill is amazing. listen to thge narrative asnd look at the bronze statues. they look alive and in motion. take sun screen as the sun is intense at this altitude. it is a great surprise in columbia.
Forget the Colorado Canyon! Instead, come and visit this awesome place in Colombia. Landscape is breathtaking, mountains are beyond beautiful and the weather is quite nice.Food court, parapente, pools, Museum ( not that nice), everything is in one place. And it also have the longest cable car in the world ( 6KM)!
The beauty of this park is phenomenal. It's well worth the entry price and the crazy road and traffic to get there. We took the teleferico (cable car) ride to the other side and back agin. It's about a thirty minute ride each way and it doesn't stop at either end, but you can get off, eat lunch, shop, listen to music. It does slow, but it is helpful to have someone offer you a hand getting on and off..if you are old like me. There is a wonderful monument at the top. It lights up at night and is truly beautiful. The monument contains 35 characters who represent the revolution of the commoners at the town of Socorro. The central figure is a woman, who was later shot for her act of defiance. Higher than the monument is a 360 degree viewpoint with a spectacular view at sunset. Did I make it that high...no. But others in my group did. It was only later I discovered there was a little bus that would take you to the top. Don't miss this attraction! Too bad i can't give it 10 stars.
This park is divided in two; aquatic and atractions with restarants. The aquatic side is beautiful, with colors, splashing buckets, and the childrens water park is very atractive. On the other hand, it has a bad design when you want to get out the pools, with the exit being hard to find. There are also very few atractions, what called my attention was the big water slide and the childrens pool. In the atractions side, there is alot to do including a synthetic ice rink, A game in which you get tied up, and then they will send you in a line to the other side connected with a mountan, and far more things to try. In the end we had a lot of fun in the park. I do recommend a lot going there.
The best of the park is the view of the Chicamocha canyon, amazing mountains, so huge and impresive! For those not afraid to heights I recommend the aerial tramway which cross the canyon. I also recommend to hear the history told at the monument to santanderean culture, very interesting. In this park you will find very nice and extreme attractions.
Went there to paraglide with group of friends from Bucaramanga landing next to the river and then one friend and I took out our packrafts and floated down the Rio Chicamocha about 7 miles to the first town, and hired a couple motortaxis to take us out to the main road (1 hour) to catch a bus. Pretty fun day.
the Chicamocha National Parc is situated on top of a mountain and offers you great views. It offers a lot of nice extras for which, unfortunately, you have to pay apart from the entrance fee. You can make a great ride in a cable car passing over the river Chicamocha. you will end up at the other side on top of another mountain, where "mesa de los santos" is located. It is said the best Colombian coffee is grown here. You should not visit the park on weekdays since most of the "things to do" are closed and you will just have a walk to the top, during your walk you will find a free museum and sort of an immense statue which tells the history of the department of Santander. In weekends and on special holidays everything is open and sometimes there are dance shows, you will have a great day.I have been there several times and always enjoy the visit but I think it is expensive since you don't only have to pay entrance fee but must pay extra for most of the main attractions.
This park has upper and lower sections connected by a cablecar ride taking a few minutes. We saw only the upper section for the panoramic views, with a restaurant and souvenir shops available, nicely landscaped observation area and plenty of parking. Not a long drive from central Bucaramanga over good roads. The mountains looked rather dry.
Stunning cannon and park. Can take a gondola from one side to the other. Some great local restaurants to eat typical food of Colombia and of the region. A must visit if in the area!
We drove there from the beautiful Barichara, through a dangerous bumpy road, expecting to hike and walk in the nature. Clearly did not happen. The National Park is really small, with just the cable car (great views of the canyon, but you spend an hour in the tiny vehicle without any involvement with the nature) and a few kid games.Once you get to the other side, you have two options: having lunch in the food yard or going back...If you are expecting to hike or to be surrounded by nature, go some place else.
Nos agrada que te haya gustado la visita a nuestro Parque. Te esperamos de nuevo para que visites el Acuaparque Nacional del Chicamocha y puedas disfrutar de la frescura del agua y la inmensidad del cañón.
