We visited this amazing building. Unfortunately, it was closed, but we did take some beautiful photos of this gothic style church. It looks like something out of Disney.

From the outside it looks much bigger, once close up one sees it is a small church. Not much in the sense of sculptures or ornamentation.

La ermita -sits along the river bank and is centrally located making it accesible from all sides of the city. The structure is more appealing on the exterior than the interior but plays homage to the hundreds of years of history which it holds.Chivas and all sorts of tourist buses stop here during Christmas and other high seasons of tourisim.

It's worth stopping here for some pics as you explore the city centre of Cali. If you go early in the morning you will probably encounter a service in the church. Surrounding area is pretty rough, with plenty of graffiti and poverty in evidence.

An interesting church from the outside, with people praying on the inside, nice marble and stained glass, quite small, well decorated outside. Relaxing atmosphere.

La Ermita hurch had been a little neglected in the past due to the turbulant history of the area. The new mayors seems to be restoring the beauty of Cali and is spending a lot of effort to restoring is past. Although singularly not the icon of Cali, it is now worth the trip.

La Ermita is a nice, little church and a landmark in Cali. I would not say that it is worth a visit of it's own, and you will most probably see it anyway if you stay in Cali for some days, as it is located directly nearby some main transport lines. The surrounding area is not the safest, so keep your eyes open.

great gotham church to visit while in cali. the area is loaded with people and many police officers to serve you. as their is too many people you may feel worried about pulling a digital camera out . what we recommend is ask any police officer to take a few pictures of you ,about 7 in general.this is incase only 2 out of the 7 look great. etc.afterwards, we offered the police $2,000 pesos about $1.25 us for a soda pop . he gladly accepted it for the soda or juice in the hot humid sun.thanks cali colombia

La Ermita is best viewed from a distance. Just now, it is surrounded by construction of the new transit system (Mio). Also, we were stunned at how dirty and fetid downtown Cali had become. The surrounding streets were dirty, strewn with litter and ripe with the odor of - well, you can imagine. It is to be hoped that this area will receive some attention upon completion of the construction projects.

A modest little church, built in cement after the original colonial chapel was destroyed by a small earthquake years ago, it has become emblematic of the Cali river-side.

If you are doing some sightseeing in Cali, Col. you will not miss this church, since it is in one of the main avenues, close to the river, downtown, there are high chances you will pass in front of them as it is one of the main routes for cabs, and even the famous "chiva" a bus without windows that takes you in a tour while you listen to Latin tunes. What I like about la Ermita is that behind it there is a big street market. Got some Latin music down there. You will likely take a pic. here.

La iglesia en su interior es bonita, pequeña pero sin mayor atractivo. Por fuera es la foto obligada, y alrededor de la iglesia, esta muy bien decorado y conservado

Una de las fotos típicas en Cali y que será un hermoso recuerdo en unos años, este sector del oeste-centro de Cali es hermoso, si estás conociendo la ciudad no puedes irte sin dejar registro de estos hermosos lugares

Es muy bonita para visitar, muy bien situada y excelente plan para conocer las arquitecturas de cali.
