If you like extreme sport, you will like it! Good place also to take wonderful photos and videos! And is not particularly insecure, but it a good way to fell adrenaline!
By far the best way to see all of the dunas is from a buggy. I recommend to sign for a buggy tour and go on a fast, adrenaline rich, blood curling ride of a lifetime. My tour started with an early pick up, then a drive through the city, then to the dunas, we went through multiple ups and downs, turns, jumps, and then the dreaded what seemed like dives into a ravine. I cant remember when I had so much fun. In between the tour we had 4 different stops at adventure parks, or activities like water slides, zip lines, sand surfing, etc.I do recommend a hat, sunglasses and plenty of sunblock. Not for the faint of heart!
I went twice, in different trips. I went first with friends, then with my family. I didn't like none of the rides to the Dunas. But you do that to friends and family. Why I didn't like it? First, you can rent a car that takes you around to the ups and downs of the Dunas, running like a crazy. It is dangerous, thrilling at the time, but if you stop to think very dangerous because mostly of the time, almost all the time you have not protection. You can be thrown out of the car. As it is open and you don't wear a belt. Secondly, some points of the park are full of garbage. The amount of people visiting and not respecting the natural habitat. I think that is sad a beautiful place that the Dunes, place for many species being treat like garbage can.
Before going to Disney there are the Dunas!! Its ana amazing ride. A car takes you around like a roller coaster ride. It's thrilling and exciting!!
We booked a dune tour with a local guy named Michelle. He was at the south end of Ponta Negra Beach living in the hostel. Ask for Pedro at the surf shop and he can point you in the right direction. He spoke excellent english and was a fantastic guide. He drove "with emotion" when asked and I learned more about the area in 1 day then the entire rest of the trip.
Great to go with family and spend a few hours. There is a walking guided tour around the dunnes, but it requires physical preparation and a few hours walking.
Second largest urban park in Brazil and the Dunas Park is the largest urban park in the country over dunes.
It's a must do sightseeing while you visit Natal. Ride the buggy, take many pictures, and if you like, buy some souvenirs during the ride.
Getting away from the main trail will give you a special view of the raw nature Brazil is so famous for mixed with a traditional view of the Nordeste.
Locals enjoy going to Parque das Dunas for exercising in close contact with Nature. This park offers attractions to adults and children of all ages. It is a safe and well-preserved environment that offers convenient facilities. There is a small but cozy restaurant, a playground, a concert site, running tracks and trails for guided trekking. The park also offers health care assistance. Recommended for the whole family.
For me it was very sunny and hot as we went in the late morning. Good sun protection is highly recommended. The view however is stunning, do not forget the camera, it will be the best photoes
I think this is one of the most interesting tours, considered a Natal trademark. The "dunas" are very different than any place I've every seen before. You can enjoy beautiful landscapes and also have fun riding the buggy. It can be a thrill ride if you ask the driver so.You can also try "skibunda" and "aerobunda", which are fun and paid separately attractions but not expensive. This is a whole day tour, so the only problem is that you probably will hire a buggy driver to take you there. Since they earn commission from restaurants, they might take you to some expensive places to eat. Don't forget to wear constantly and a lot of sunscreen because it is a windy city, so you won't feel the sun burning your skin.
Beautiful landscape. You must try Skibunda (sundboard), it is good fun! Exotic animals (like iguanas) can be spoted if you are luck. The best way to visit the dunes is renting a buggie and going around with the guide. Without guide the driving can be dangerous, the buggie can overturn.
Definitively a must see attraction in Natal if you like nature. Marvellous landscape views from the dunes and a good ride with some adventure (you may ask for more or less "adventure" to your driver and he will not disapoint you).
Great place for a day trip, to do some sandboarding, see a camels or get a spectaculars boogie rides.
