Matadeiro is a quiet and very beautiful beach in the south of Floripa. Surfers are the most common people there, as it has nice waves. There's no way for cars to get there, sou you have to set your feet on the sand and walk a little.
This is one of the most remote and greatest beach on the island. It is close to the lovely Portuguese village of Armaçao. As there is no road, you need to wade across a creek after the fishing village of Armaçao, then walk along the narrow hill path which will lead you to the magnificent bay of Matedeiro. This is not only a beautiful environment but also a huge, pristine sandy beach. Not so many people there and to top it all they have a beach café, which serves some delicious seafood at a very reasonable price.
There are so many wonderful beaches on Santa Catarina but my favourite was Praia do Matedeiro. It is easy to reach from the village of Armacao where there are restaurants and bars.
Accessible only by foot, Matadeiro beach is reserved for the ones seeking peace and tranquily, throughout the year. During the summer season, the beach gets crowd, but still a great place to enjoy nature. A must see is a little blue house that sells among refreshments and snacks (very good sweet corn) second-hand books.
If you go to Armação beach you must go to Matadeiro. It is a very small beach but it is beautiful to see the surfers surfing there. It is great for this sport.
Beautiful!! But if you are not tired and want to take a 2,5 hours walk to Lagoinha do Leste, you will meet an even more beautiful place. Guided tours can be hired with the guys from Lagoa Boutique Guest House. They offer packages with acommodation, vegetarian food and trips. Cheers!
Matadeiros beach is nature in its most. Beatiful, isolated, with no access to cars, and just a small community (50 houses) living there. For me, Is the most beautiful spot in the south of the island. During summer don´t miss the peculiar library run by a local, is simply charming. In the beach you can find a couple of bars serving drinks and food. Enjoy the nature, the sand and the sea, don't leave marks, trash or anything that might destroy this little paradise!
Def one of my fav on the Island. Great surf spot, kind of "roots" beach bars with live music and great views.
Matadeiro beach is a cool place to go surfing or go swimming in the ocean. The beach is very flat and very, very clean. Perfect conditions for a great day on the seaside!
Gorgeous, and if I remember correctly, neighbouring Armacão is equally beautiful. Could spend a whole day here.
This beach is a great place for surfers and for relaxing, especially for people seeking a quieter place to spend time since this beach is not usually crowded (except for surfers). If you wanna surf there just be careful with the locals. If the left corner is too crowded try to find a more spacious site on the right corner of the beach. The waves are good there when the south wind blows. There is no car access to this beach so if you go there you need to park in the nearby area and walk to the beach but it's not distant if you find a good spot. It's definetly a very beautiful beach to visit and when the right swell comes and the right wind is blowing it's an excelent surfing spot!
Located in the south of Santa Catarina near a small village. We were outside high season and it rained. The place was full of surfers, who were running past us on the trail to the beach
Nice beach in south of Florianópolis. There are few restaurants there, but they're good and not so expensive. No car acess. you must walk to get there, and there is 2 options: a shallow (and polluted) river or a bridge. For both acess, you get a small trail after. The southern part of Matadeiro usually have less waves, what is good for children. For surfers: is one of the best places to surf in Florianópolis when the south wind blows. Local surfers aren't friendly; respect them. Good barrels with east swells and south wind.
Lovely hidden beach with a perfect view. Travelers will love stopping by and being captured by the beauty of this spot.
Stunning location with big Atlantic waves crashing in. People surfing. A place to be seen and photo-ed for sure!. Nice bars (although with varying prices) serving drinks and lovely fresh fried fish. (try the Espada!) Surrounded by green hills and rocy cliffs. Spent two days here relaxing and sunning ourselves - time has no meaning here. Sit back and soak it up - forget your troubles!.
