It was nice. Over hyped and over it after about ten minutes. It was a nice hike along the beach to get to it from Jeri. Lots of little caves and cliffs to explore.
Beautiful scenario, specially at sunset. Although Duna do Pôr do Sol has a more stunning view, at least one day you should spend at Pedra Furada. Not only Pedra Furada is beautiful, but there are many colourful and beautiful rocks nearby. You should definitively check the surrounding area for a great view.
the walk is super nice, you can do it next to the beach or up on the dunes. The stone wasnt has big or special as I watched in a map before going... Anyway, u have to do it, and you can buy a coco nut next to the stone :)
It's a beautiful place, there's no doubt. However be prepared for a good walk (there are other transportation means like horse, buggies don't enter!). You can take some interesting pictures. Go with low tide otherwise you will get it more difficult....take water (there is no commerce there!)
Try to do it as part of the buggy trip to Lagoa Azul. Its the trademark of Jeri so I guess if you are there you should go and have a look
we only took pics from top, it was a very challenging rock climbing to get there, we were advised my many that was not worth the hike, the view from the top were as beautiful
I had no idea how to get here but at about 4pm/half 4, hoards of people began walking out of the main town and over the hills. I followed them and found Pedro Furada easily enough, it takes abut 40 minutes. The walk isn't strenuous but there are slightly steep places, and sharp pebbles/vines along the way so I would recommend wearing closed shoes rather than flipflops. If the return journey is too much, there were horses and carts waiting to take people back. Leave before complete darkness as there is no lighting on the route. The rock itself isn't particularly fascinating (though the Brazilians seem to think so) but it was a nice place to chill out and watch the sunset. As i visited in July the sun actually set underneath the arch. It was crammed with tourists though, so its quite difficult to get a good picture/peacefully enjoy the moment.
Do not waste your time going there unless you are around, go for a jog early morning. Just a rock with a hole, nothing special.
Beautiful piece of nature however it is what it is - a rock with a hole in the middle. Visited in July when the sun actually sets in the middle of the hole but it was so full of people trying to snap their money shots that we got a bit annoyed and moved to one of the several little rock formations around it and watched a beautiful sunset there away from all the flashlights and the flocks of people
This rock is one of the symbols of Jericoacoara. It takes some time to get there but it is worthy. If you start early you can get most of the way through the beach. If you start late in the day you will have to go through the hill. If you have locomotion problems than hire a buggy that will take you there circling the hill and you will have to do only a small walk.
A must visit if you are in Jeri! takes a bit of a hike to get there but its worth it! you walk from Jeri but I would recommend visit while doing a buggy tour.
A group from town walks to Pedra Furada ensemble every day at a certain time (ask at your pousada, they all know what time and where you can catch them). The walk there is really beautiful, with wild donkeys dotting the hills. Once there everyone scrambles to take a photo of themselves in the middle of the rock, which is a bit annoying... and then everyone scrambles to take the photo of the sun as its setting and showing from the hole. While it is a bit overly touristy, its still a nice walk and worth doing if you want that picture or you dont mind doing something touristy every once in a while.
You get there by coach and then 800m walk up the slope down to the beach. In July, the sunset is exactly between the beach and the stone, and you can see the sun setting exactly the "hole". Fantastic.
There are three ways to access the beach from the pierced stone (pedra furada) and loose stone (pedra solta), however, the path that borders the beaches is the most difficult and beautiful. Should be done by young people willing to walk in very soft sand. Stone loose beacn and stone pierced beach are the two things that should be seen at least once in the afternoon because many people go there, filling the place. walk and contemplate the scenery is better in the morning.
It's a little hard to get there as you have to climb down a very irregular field, but it's worth it. You can get there early in the morning by the sea cost, or walk from up the hill using the Lighthouse trail. Use your tennis shoes and you will climb better. Hire a horse car for the trip back to downtown.
