There is not much to see on this bridge (in fact a pier). There were no shops (only the empty kiosks), the whole place seems to be quite run down. Quite disappointing, considering that it's supposed to be a touristic highlight.
You you see a couple of "bridges" in Fortaleza that are actually piers. Some were build to be actually bridges that were never finished. Aside from that historical information, the bridge is a place for a nice walk and to take pictures of the sunset.
Excelent for taking a picture and make you friends envy your travel! =)You can also walk around, take a sun bath, drink sth in a bar in front of that. The best place of the city.
It is one of the turistic points of Fortaleza. There are some bars and stores near the bridge. Good place to see the sunset.
The "Ponte Metalica" has fallen on hard times and was closed for a while. The small souvenir shop and cafes that used to be there are gone. The end of the pier is fenced off, but people regularly jump onto the pilings of what used to be the end of the pier. It's a popular place from which to watch sunsets, but there's little other reason to go. Not a safe place to go late at night, except maybe on Mondays, when the nearby Pirata Bar is open (Mondays only). Area is not well-policed.
'Metal' Bridge or as the name translates to - English Bridge is situated perfectly over one of many beautiful coastal and beach areas in this State of Brazil. The structure itself dates back to the 1900's when it was used primarily for passenger vessels. Now when tourists like us leave for the day it is a meeting place for the young and what is a pier if you can't throw a line out to catch a fish - we saw fishermen on the rocks adjacent to the pier. Certain parts are off limits as it's unsafe but we were still able to walk out over the boardwalk to watch the sea green swell rolling onto the beach. It's rather reminiscent of the old English seaboard piers but the views from this one are more spectacular. The scenery takes in the popular tourist beaches and high rises all along this coastal strip. More powerful than it appears, the Atlantic surged under the boardwalk cracks as we looked down before they hit the rocks. A couple of cafes are close by, a shop or two and it's a place to visit at day's end for an atmospheric sun set.Enjoy your experience!
Nice place! Just relax, see the view of the city and sea! And feel the wind! Soooo beautiful! And then you can walk around in Praia de Iracema by bike, roller blade (wich you can rent there), or even on foot...
A wonderful place to watch and take pictures of the sunset. You can also rent a bike or walk at the nice and renewed side walk
This once was a great spot for appreciating the sunset. Now, after years of abandon, and a hopeful rebirth, starts slowly to be frequented by locals. The sunset is good, but some other piers were built and offer also nice views, in a safer way. Go if you have nothing better to do. But be aware late at night.
