景点印象
To most people the building resembles a flying saucer. The designer, Oscar Neimeyer, described the reflecting pool that surrounds the cylindrical base "like a flower". You be the judge! The building is set on a cliffside, at the bottom of which is a beach. Whether you like the art or not is a matter of opinion.
Designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemayer, the MAC looks like a huge flying saucer that just landed at Boa Viagem hill. But its curves are perfectly integrated to the landscape of the entrance of Guanabara Bay. A real landmark of Niteroi!
Love Niemeyer's work and this one is divine in a very special spot. Its worth the journey out from Rio!
In my opinion a trip well worth the effort. The building is a wonderful, gravity defying structure and offers wonderful views across the bay to Rio. The inside is a real disappointment. Not only the curation of the art but the horrid grey carpet in total disrepair and the suffocating darkness of the inside are a real downer. This wonderful place is in desperate need of a make over. Have the people that did the restaurant below remodel it....maybe it will be worth going inside afterwards.
It is worth taking a ferry from Estacao das Barcas to see MAC building designed by Niemeyer and its souroundings. Ferries are leaving every 15-30 minutes from Praca XV and are inexpensive. There is a bus from the ferry building in Niteroy that can take you to MAC. After visit you can take the same bus that stops in fron ot MAC to see the rest of the Niteroy and get back to port.
Beautiful architecture by Oscar Niemeyer, great location on the ocean. The exhibitions I saw inside were not very interesting (not at all).
Beautiful from the outside but very little worth seeing insideWheelchair access to main exhibits after long ramp to main entrance but restaurant appears to only have stair access - pity since they were advertising an interesting lunch deal!
The Museum in an iconic building designed by a renowned Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. The site of the museum is great, on top of a hill in Niteroi with scenic views of Rio de Janeiro and Guanabara Bay. The art content in the museum at the time we went (December '14) wasn't great and we were a little disappointed. However the entrance is really cheap and is worthy even if it's to go around the glass panel to look at different points of view from inside the museum.
We visited Niteroi by ferry from the Central. It is not that hard. One takes the metro to the center of the downtown and walked a few blocks to the ferry terminal. The ferry costs very little. 20 minute ride later, you get to the other side called Niteroi. Then take a bus from the bus terminal (be sure to see the Popular Theater designed by Oscar Niemeyer near the bus terminal) to MAC. Or you can walk for 30 minutes along the seaside. It is a very nice walk. The views are stunning. Rio is all in front of you! Along the way you will see another Niemeyer. The MAC itself is a typical Niemeyer. Worth the visit!
We visited MAC on a hot sunny day in January. We were 3: me, my girlfriend and her goddaughter, who's 5 yrs. She had a blast, she ran all the way and took amazing pictures at the "Flying Saucer". Besides that, she could get to know, or at least to see and amaze herself with contemporanean art.Go check out.
The structure itself is magnificent. The views from and in the MAC leave you in awe. I believe it cost me r$6 to enter the museum. There's not much in it yet but the exhibits are pretty cool to look at. Makes a great day trip from Rio. Enjoy!
What a fantastic building!Forget the modern art... it is pathetic! The building sits on a hill overlooking the beach with a great view of Rio.Downstairs there is a very good bistro.
The building is wounderfull and the view at Guanabara Bay and City is amazing. So the peace that place got is fantastic. You need stay their because is the best. Have a good time one!!!!
This is the most special and finest art museum I've been to. The building is shaped as an UFO, and inside there is art and views of the fine beaches on Niteroy. When we were there in October there was an exhibition of women who were affected by cancer, but was enjoyed proud over their bodies! Several of the pictures and the stories touched me! So this art museum I recommend visiting if you have one week in Rio. My and friends were there quite late, and got us a very nice sunset from the art museum!
I went here 7 years ago and it was gorgeous. There were a lot of interesting artefacts inside, but the actual architecture of the building was one of the biggest highlights. Very cool, with a lovely view.
