Calm waters and many food stands nearby. Parking was always available even in the busiest days. We loved it!
This beach is nice because it is surrounded by vegetation, with little construction - just one restaurant and a few basic beach bars. Parking can be difficult on busy days. Careful with the beach bars: this was the only place, in Búzios, where I ever felt being ripped off (poor service followed by overcharging).
The Tartaruga beach is beautiful place, it have restaurant and bar to drink, but don't have toilet. The sea is hot then another beach around. Have a good time there.
Great beach for snorkeling. The water is very beautiful and has several choirs. Rent dive or a board to do the "stand up". The price compared to other beaches is much cheaper. The beach is a bit tucked away, you can stop in a parking lot or on the street close to the beach.
SUMMARY - Go to the west side of the beach for the best experience. - Stunningly warm water - Beautiful view - Hidden charges on the deck chairs (see below) - Music by deck chairs is annoyingREVIEWUnless you prefer a noisy, tourist-focused vibe, the west side of the beach is by far the best part. If you arrive on the east side, and try and walk along the beach to get to the west side, you will be approached by at least 7 different people trying to get you to sit in their deck chairs.Use of the deck chairs themselves is technically free, however you're expected to purchase food and drinks once in them. The drinks prices are ok, if a touch on the expensive side. Having been convinced to sit in the deckchairs, we had two of the cheapest beers at R$6 each, but they're not very nice; the nicer beers are about R$10. We also got a bowl of chips (batatas fritas) at R$25.BEWARE OF THE HIDDEN CHARGE IN THE DECKCHAIRS:When we got the bill at the end for our drinks and chips; the usual 10% service charge had been applied, which is fine, but there was an odd R$10 at the bottom. The guy had casually slipped the bill over to us, with no explanation of the breakdown, and it was evident he was hoping we wouldn't question anything. But I did question the R$10 charge, and upon doing so, the guy awkwardly told me 'oh its for the music yes?'. For the music?? They were playing music through their sound system, which I'd actually found overly loud, and not especially relaxing when all you want to do is chill by the sea.I said no, and he looked a little upset saying 'Fine if you really don't like the music, you don't pay for it'. I said I wasn't happy to pay for it, as we weren't told about it up front. They did remove it, but seemingly begrudgingly, which gives you the sense you're being a spoil sport, but it's not appropriate to apply random charges for things that were never advertised up front! After the deckchair episode, we walked over to the west side of the beach, where there are no deckchairs, no music (though also no drinks), but it's way more peaceful and you can genuinely chill out next to this beautiful beach with stunningly warm water. We realised we should have just ignored the deckchairs and come to this part in the first place.
There are definitely much nicer beaches in Buzios. This one was very rocky and I couldn't walk into the water without hurting my feet! The water wasn't very clear and compared to the other beaches, the service was not very good either.
We took a taxi from the centre to this beach (20 real) as weren't having much luck navigating ourselves there by foot! We arrived a bit before sunset, the beach was clearing out and the waves were high. The water is lovely and warm and we had loads of fun jumping and surfing in the waves. The water was seaweedy though and not as clear as the other beaches in Buzios. The sunset was beautiful. A briiliant orange glow across the sea. We took some great photos!
Hot water great for children!! Nice beach to eat and spend some time in family!! I prefer Joao Fernandez but Tartaruga is special for children.
This is a very pretty beach and we loved it. It's very family-oriented so our kids had a great time. There are a few hawkers but that's okay... ...who doesn't need ice cream on a hot day?! :-)The umbrellas and chairs are provided by the restaurants and they are free. We sat down by Sol de Tataruga which is a nice restaurant and they made our experience special. They had a very good English-speaking waitress (Naoli) who deserves kudos for some awesome customer service.Note that there are no restrooms at this beach as it's an ecological preserve. There is one restaurant at he beach entrance that charges BR$ 5,00 per visit. It is clean so worth visiting if you have to go.The beach is clean. The waves were gentle. There is some snorkeling opportunity near the rocks, but be careful while walking as some of the rocks are slippery. Overall, I loved this beach... ...way better than Joao Fernandes beach.
This is a lovely beach, albeit not a great deal of sand when the tide is fully in. We found a wonderful little bar (I think it was called Sol da Tarturuga) about half way along the beach that had live music and served really fantastic fresh BBQ´d fish. The owner proudly presents his fresh fish, which you can chose from and it is served with salad and delicious potatoes - excellent value and the best fish we tasted all holiday. The bar also provides chairs and tables on the beach, great for sipping a pre lunch caipirinha and watch the world go by - hawkers selling beach robes, ice cream, BBQ corn cobs, jewellry etc, but not intrusive. It is a very popular beach so get there early if you want to find beach chairs.
We rented some kayaks at Tartaruga beach and we got some goggles to do some snorkling. There was also a bar with a nice view on the ocean. The only point to add is that the beach is small but long and you end up quite quickly with your feet in the water when the tide is coming up.
one can swim in Tartaruga beach. A shuttle ride from the pier of Canto beach to Tartaruga beach is a must too.
This restaurant is right on the beach, with views across the bay. The service was very good and the food well presented. The staff were also helpful in describing the dishes in english!
If you are going anywhere near Buzios, RJ---the place where those from Rio de Janeiro like to get away to---don't miss Tartaruga beach. Beautiful water and wonderful sand, but also great service. A guy came by with fresh-caught fish, and I picked the one I wanted cooked. Another came with drinks, then a masseuse came by and I got a massage. It was just amazing.
