WE came here to collect info and saw the guest book with a lot of reviews and infos from travellers who were kind enough to leave their experiences (mostly "to avoid" kind of experiences). We learnt there that things were being robbed from our hotel rooms by the maids and we ran back to our hotel to collect anything we had of value. I believe this casa de turismo saved us from a potential bad taste in our mouths.
I visited the Casa Turismo to pick up some tips for my Bolivia travel. I got very good and detailed information about Sucre, Bolivia and even South America.Lots of good advice about Sucre and what can be done: Trekking to Maragua and Potolo, Climbing, Sightseeing Sucre, Market at Tarabuco, Massage at Sucre, Horse Riding. Also good Tips for Restaurant’s and Tour operators in Sucre and even in other cities of Bolivia. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and will help you with any questions or tips about Sucre and for your further travel, in several languages. Also good information’s about bus connections from Sucre. Casa de Turismo can arrange Tours and build the connection to the Tour operator for you in Sucre and Uyuni. I booked my tour here for the Salar de Uyuni Tour.So definitely go for a visit upon arrival in Sucre directly and seek advice about Sucre and for the further journey, it is worth and might arise even new ideas. And by the way, there are very nice souvenirs to buy, everything from fair trade and production in Bolivia. I bought a beautiful and warm alpaca sweaters for the Salar Tour, because they advised me warm clothes for the cold nights on the tour. Thanks for the tip ;)
We visited the Casa de Turismo in Sucre which is very close to the main plaza. We have received a lot of tips and information for Sucre and the Salar. They also took a lot of time for us and helped us planing our trip to Chile and Argentina. They really know South America very well - better than any travel guide book! For most tours and bus rides they will send you to one of the many travel agencies close by, which means they don't just sell the tour with the highest profit for them, but let you know of the tours which are best suited for you, approx. prices and what you have to look out for when booking. You can also get some cool handcraft articles there for little money and cool T-Shirts made in Sucre. Thanks a lot
Casa de Turismo has been the most helpful source of information for my trip in Bolivia!More than worth a visit. Share your ideas about the trip with them and they will help you on finding the best solutions. Thanks Casa de Turismo.Antonio(solo traveller)
Bought a beautiful baby alpaca shawl here and very much enjoyed a conversation with the owner. He's well-informed about Bolivian travel destinations and happy to share!
The Casa de Turismo is now at Calle Audiencia No. 81! (2 min from main plaza)You can get the best information about any kind of further travels you have in mind here. The staff from the casa de Tourismo are extremely knowledgeable and will gladly help you with any questions or tips for your further travel. Don't pass up this rare chance to get some valuable info about Bolivia or further South American areas.
Once you arrive in Sucre you should take some time and visit the Casa de Turismo. Marco the multilingual and established owner and his employee will give you the best tips you can get on Sucre and Bolivia. It seems there's almost nothing Marco doesn't know about this awesome country, be it tours, customs, habits and culture, sights, accommodation, restaurants, bars, language courses, whatsoever; he will get you the right thing. They will also help you pick the right tour operator which can be really important in Bolivia (safety, price, knowledge, etc). We did the Uyuni-Tour with Red Planet Expeditions on the centre's recommendation and couldn't be more happy with this choice, it was just amazing. The shop has some really cool souvenirs too and is well located. Please note: the address has changed lately. They aren't in the Calle Bustillos anymore as suggested by tripadvisor but you will find the centre at Calle Audiencia No. 81, which is a 2-minute-stroll uphill from the southern tip of the main square (Plaza 25 de Mayo). Honest, accurate and independent information in Spanish, English, German and French.Muchas gracias, Marco!
Fortunately we passed at Casa de Turismo in Sucre where we got for free independent and objective travel advices not only about Sucre but about whole Bolivia. We were particularly happy about Marco's recommendation to follow the so called "Ruta del Ché" which we would never have done without the detailed informations we got at Casa de Turismo. We did the trip Sucre - Villa Serrano - La Higuera - Samaipata by public bus (the side trip down to La Higuera by foot), almost without any other tourists. It was a great experience! Thanks a lot to Marco - he's doing a great job not only in favour of Sucre's tourists but also of Sucre's and it's region's tourism industry! PLEASE NOTE that Casa de Turismo changed its location to Calle Audiencia Nº 81.
Check out this place to get all the touristic information about Bolivia. Marco is from Switzerland and speaks french spanish and german. He can tell you stuff you will not find in any travel guide.
finally the place where we got all the informations to plan our tour to potosi, uyuni and the saltflat-tour until san pedro/chilethe service they promised was what we got! thank you very much marco!
My partner and I both benefitted from a massage by Nelson who operates a small business in what used to be the Casa de Turismo. The building is now a bit of a white elephant with nothing in it but the massage place. Apparently as a tourist centre it never took off so the other businesses moved out, but Nelson's business is booming - and with good reason. 80Bs for a 40 minute massage, can't go wrong. He gave a firm massage and I felt thoroughly stretched out and softened up afterwards! Going back next week.
Nelson is really good guy for massage!!! I chose full body massage. It was really nice. His hand power is really strong. So I could felt really calm and restful. In korea, there are many massage shops, but I ve never seen like him. If you come to sucre, you need to take a rest with massage. Good massage with reasonable price!! cool!
Actually most places are closed or under renovation. Hopefully it will soon become a more interesting place. The girl at the info desk was very friendly and well informed.
A very good massage is offered in previous casa de tourismo. It is like a mix of deep tissue, thai and reflexologymassage. Ask for Nelson.
We clearly misunderstood this, because at the time we were there it was number one thing to do in Sucre. It was a large building with a tourist-police that couldn't speak English. There are two to three operating souvenir shops there, and a lot of empty space. You can get folders of other things to do, thoughn?
